Switching Places

The other day Senator Ted Cruz (TX- Awesome) absolutely demolished Rep AOC (NY-knucklehead), the not so bright bulb from NY. She made the mistake of stating on Twitter that at some point, the democrat party and the Republican party switched places when it came to racism. As the linked Twichy article points out this has been so thoroughly debunked, that serious people don't even attempt to bring it up any more. Every once in a while though, someone drags this out in an attempt to discredit. Just like all the other times, someone has to do some educating. This time it was Sen Cruz.

Click here to view the comment string on Sen. Cruz's tweets.

If you can't get directly to Twitter from the above link, click here to view the awesomeness on Twichy. Once there, click on any the comments and it should take you to the Twitter page.

Electric Vehicles Required

Ran across this article the other day and thought I'd throw on here for your viewing "pleasure".

Some of you may remember when the governor of Washington State ran for President. If you don't, you are not alone. I think he polled somewhere in the 0.2% range.

What made him unique was he ran solely on a global cooling, warming, climate change, climate disruption platform. He is big time into having everyone toe the line on his view of climate, by force if necessary.

As highlighted in the linked article he recently signed a transportation bill that would require all vehicles sold in Washington State to be electric. The bill does grandfather in non electric vehicles built and sold before 2030. It wasn't clear if you can sell an internal combustion engine after 2030 built before 2030. In other words, if you have a gas powered Toyota built in 2029, can you sell it the next year?

Bus Driver Punched

This is the reason why I would never consider driving a bus. I read about an incident in the area at least once a week or so. Really sad how far this country has deteriorated.

This has to be seen to be believed. Video found here in case this doesn’t work or I have to delete.

"Buy American" Ads Turned Down

I think I’d file this under a “little kooky.” The Seattle area Metro bus company has refused to sell ad space on their buses to a company that is asking folks to buy American made products this Christmas season.

A local group’s plan to buy ads on Metro buses urging people to “Buy American” and “shop Locally” has been rejected by King County as too political

TAP America, a Seattle-based nonprofit, sought to place the ads starting this week on the outside of Metro buses, concentrating on bus routes that run through shopping districts of downtown Seattle and Bellevue.

The message was meant as a reminder to holiday shoppers that they could do something positive for the country by thinking about how they spend their money, said Richard Tso, TAP America’s executive director. (Source: Seattle Times)

Obama Costs US Even More Jobs

To call this anything but tragic would be wrong. Postponing the Keystone Pipeline decision until after the 2012 elections borders on lunacy with the fact that our economy still teeters. President Obama has thrown the American recovery under the bus (yet again). I wonder if the unions are starting to get the message that the only thing the Obama likes is the union money. He cares not a wit about the American worker. (Link via Doug Ross)

OWS Protesters Lob a Loogie

Still think the whole Occupy Wall Street protests are milk and honey? I don’t know what was worse: the victim was a Coast Guard member or that the victim was a woman. Actually, in my opinion the fact that someone from the OWS gang would even entertain, much less follow through, spitting on a woman disgusts me to no end. Has the left completely lost its chivalry?

In a word: pathetic.

Do They Even Know What Rasicm Is?

In today’s post-racial environment (we are post-racial, Obama promised it), is it OK for a white dude to issue a cry of racism against blacks? Is it OK for him to do this when he doesn’t have a clue as to what he is talking about?

Ed Schultz, host of MSNBC’s the Ed Show, believes that Republican presidential contender Herman Cain is pandering to “white Republican out there who don’t like black folks: and accused Sen. Jim Demint, R-S.C., of using racist language in his opposition to Obamacare.

On his show last night, Schultz said that Demint, whom Cain has mentioned as a potential running mate, repeated on “old southern racist term when talking about defeating President Obama during the health care debate.” Schultz’s example? He quoted Demint saying that “if we are able to stop Obama on the [health care law], it will be his Waterloo. It will break him.” For clarity, Schultz repeated the offending line, “It will break him.” (Source: Washington Examiner)

A couple of weeks ago, people like Schultz and the rest of the liberal media (aka: main stream media) barely had any time for Cain. But win a couple of straw polls, do well in the debates, and get a serious boost in your polling numbers and suddenly they take an interest. But I wonder why they don’t take an interest in the fact that a black man had an exceptionally successful run as CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, or the fact that he has done very well on the radio and lecture circuit, or that he has become a bestselling author.

As for the “It will break him” line being racist, I don’t profess to be from the south nor do I have any insight on any of the colloquialisms of the language down there, but I don’t ever recall hearing that this group of four words is racist. So I guess when Ivan Drago told Rocky that “I must break you” it was really “you are nothing but American scum.” Or when a defensive coach tells his linebackers that they have to break the line of scrimmage, which often times has a black athlete or two, it is really a veiled reference about their ability to play football.

All you really can do is shake your head at the wonder of how stupid people have become in trying bring a man down. Sorry to break it to you people, but my feelings of “get rid of that guy in the White House” have nothing to do with his race. Heck, the dude is half white anyways. So are you saying that I approve of half of him, but not the other half? I felt the same way about Clinton. I guess that makes me bigoted against people from Arkansas. One thing I will have to say about Clinton, I am bigoted against two-timing floor-flushers.

It is funny, I found myself becoming a Herman Cain supporter, but I certainly don’t feel any racism towards him.

California, The Leading Nanny State

Well, California is at it again. As a nanny state, California has both figuratively and literally broken the bank. Their record for stupid liberal decisions is well documented here and all across the web. Yet despite the evidence of their continuing stupidity, they keep on keepin’ on.

Just recently, Gov Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown signed legislation that bans tanning beds for those under the age of eighteen. This is outright ban, regardless of whether there is parental permission. The state of California doesn’t think that someone who is 17 can make good decisions. And as the father of a 17-year old, I happen to agree with that sentiment. However, there is a reason why 16- and 17-year old kids have parents: So they can make informed decisions about the choices their teenagers want to make. Taking away that responsibility from the parents and giving it to the state is what I am have trouble with. Why oh why do liberals and progressive think they are so much smarter than everyone else that they have to pass laws that further whittles away at parental rights? Is it not my responsibility and my right to raise my children how I see best? If I want to allow my teenager to get a suntan via a tanning bed, that is my right. But it also my responsibility to make sure that my kids are not done any harm, so I wouldn’t allow them too anyway. It still galls me that the state of California thinks they can raise my kids better than I can.

Often, the wounds inflicted on California are done by the idiots in Sacramento.

But every once in a while, the citizens themselves act like a bunch of loons.

Democrats Say the Darnest Things

In case you are wondering how democrats feel about the latest news that has hit the wires recently here are a few links that might interest you.
1. I know most of you are aware of the solar energy company, Solyndra, who received over $500 million dollars (that half a billion), yet despite this huge infusion of tax payer money, they still went under. Congress has started to investigate what actually happened and if there was anything funny going on. Now Rep Dingell says, “I’m still waiting to see something that makes me concerned.”
Waiting for something that makes you concerned? What a knucklehead. It doesn’t concern him that $500 million in taxpayer money has basically been flushed down the drain? What is wrong with this guy? Well, dems never were very concerned about how taxpayer money gets spent as long as it gets them reelected. Actually, I think this runs in both parties.
2. Speaking of taxpayer money, there is a congress woman from Illinois that thinks that “you don’t deserve to keep all of it…” I know I could be accused of presenting this out of context and you should click the link to read the entire quote. But I have no issue pointing out that a democrat congress-critter thinks you don’t deserve the money you earn. And I have no problem speculating that fully thinks that she can spend your hard-earned dollars better than you can.
“I think Jewish voters will be Democrat and be for Obama in 2012, especially if you get a Republican candidate like [Texas] Gov. [Rick] Perry,” he said. “But there is no question the Jewish community is much more bipartisan than it has been in previous years. There are Jews who are trending towards the Republican Party, some of it because of their misunderstanding of Obama’s policies in the Middle East, and some it, quite frankly, for economic reasons. They feel they want to protect their wealth, which is why a lot of well-off voters for Republicans.” (Source: The Blaze)

Of course, the media will completely ignore this play on stereotypes. It is not OK and it is racist for a black man to disagree with President Obama, but a liberal Jew can say whatever he wants about fellow Jews, even to the point of throwing around stereotypes.
I would also like to point out that the leader of Israel has no question in his mind how Obama and his crew feel about Israel. I think that many Jews are finally beginning to see that democrats and especially progressives are in no why supportive of Israel and the Jews.
There are times when I just shake my head at some of the stupid things that democrats say. They have a huge foot-in-mouth problem. But it never seems to have an impact on how folks view them. With a friendly press protecting their flanks, they could say just about anything and get away with it, until now. With the proliferation of alternative media, no long are they able to hide. I will keep rooting for them to say stupid things and I will continue to highlight it when it comes to my attention.

Let's Just Phone in More Entitlement Programs

This is just plain stupid. How in the heck does anyone think that having a cell phone is some sort of Constitutional right? Do we need to go back before the years cell phones became available and put all those people “in charge” in jail for civil rights violations because they didn’t provide this service in the past?

Just another example why we cannot trust politicians with our money. They knuckleheads keep adding to the entitlement programs. Do they not see that the supply on money is finite? Is someone going to poop a bucketful of cash to pay for all of these programs? Just a few days after struggling to pass an increase in the debt ceiling because we have to borrow money to keep the government running, somebody thought spending more money on an entitlement program would be a good idea? Geesh, my head hurts.

Whatever!

This is just further proof that Obama and his administration have their heads buried, umm, well, in the sand (This is a family blog after all).

The debt has tripled, the unemployment rate is standing a 9.2%, massive layoffs loom, the democrats have not passed a budget in nearly three years, fuel prices are at the highest sustained level in, like, forever, and the grow rate has stagnated at less than 2%.

This guy has the gall to say the economy is in wonderful shape. If you are a socialist heck-bent on reshaping how America ‘works’, then yes, everything, economy-wise, is just hunky-dory. However, if you are working stiff average-Joe then no, the economy is not “vastly improved.”

I am going to file this under stupid.

Big Government Stupidity In Oregon

Here are a couple of “big government” issues happening down the road in Oregon.

Portland Mayor Sam Adams has OK’d funds (taxpayer money) to pay for Portland city employees to get sex change operations.

Portland Mayor Sam Adams wants city benefits to include sex-reassignment surgery, saying they should match the city’s policy against gender discrimination.

“I think it’s fair, and it’s common sense,” Adams said in an interview Monday before leaving for weeklong trip to Brazil for city business.

“This is basic, medically necessary health care,” said Jeana Frazzini, executive director of Basic Rights Oregon, a gay rights and gender-identity advocacy group. (Source: The Oregonian)

Hmm, a “basic, medically necessary health care.” I would sure like to see a like bit of proof that changing one’s sex is medically necessary. A man wanting to be a woman is not like having cancer or a broken leg. If someone wants to have this procedure done, then they should be responsible for it. There are those who would argue that pregnancy is not medically necessary: you get pregnant by choice. True enough, but I think if you asked most people, covering this as a part of medical insurance is a no-brainer. But electing to get your private bits changed around is not something that most people (IMO) should support having taxpayer money cover.

Title IX has always been a bone of contention for me. This law basically states that there must be as much opportunity for school-age girls to participate in sports as for the boys. Over the years of its implementation, many schools (high school and college) have had to cut sports for boys to start programs for girls. Often times, the sports cut is done unilaterally, boys get cut but no girls program developed, just to get the number of participants balanced.

Recently, a suit was filed against Oregon high schools that had an imbalance of the number of girls vs. the number of boys playing sports.

Sixty Oregon school districts have been named in a complaint filed with the US Office of Civil Rights for allegedly failing to provide high school girls with equal opportunities as boys to play sports, a violation of Title IX.

Using 2006 data, the complaint lists the schools from largest to smallest in disparity, which is the difference between the percentage of girls who are athletes compared to the percentage of overall female student. About 30 schools top the list with double-digit percentage-point gaps in the number of girl athletes to girl students, according to the complaint. (Source: The Oregonian)

A couple of points here to make. The first one is that football should be thrown out of the equation. This really tips the scales due to the high number of boys who play football. Girls very rarely play football, and there is no corresponding sport with the same level of required participants needed to field a team.

Secondly, girls don’t play sports as much as guys do, it is a simple fact that these government busy-bodies never seem to acknowledge. This is not to say girls don’t play; they do, and in increasing numbers. But boys always have and always will view sports as a part of moving into manhood.

BTW: I could do a whole nother post on the wussification of America by these do-gooder busy-bodies. They spend a lot of time trying to fight nature. Boys are going to act like men, whether these femi-nazi want them to or not.

Way back when I was a kid, my mother, who was at the leading edge of the whole feminist movement, tried with all her might to keep me from playing sports. But participating in athletics was a natural as using the restroom. So I sneaked around. I would tell her I was studying. When I’d get caught, it would really be too late to have me quite. She’d tell me to stop sneaking around, but I would listen, then I’d get in trouble all over again. As I got into high school, she finally relented, but she never really took any sort of interest. She thought sports were barbaric and unenlightened.

Fortunately, the woman I married has a different view on boys and sports. She doesn’t care to watch them on TV and is not a fan of any sort. Except when her boys are playing. Then she is quite rabid.

Gay Pride Parade Float Damage

Most of you are aware that I am not a fan of gay marriage and the military’s attempt to indoctrinate the straight servicemember into accepting a lifestyle they may not agree with due to the strongly held moral beliefs.

But in no way can I condone this. Violence against any member of our society is just plain wrong. If you don’t agree with the lifestyle, protest in a peaceful manner, don’t act like a bunch of knuckle dragging idiots.  This is just plain stupid.

Obama: Unions Above Job Growth (UPDATE)

The Obama Administration continues to pay back their union benefactors. A new set of rules begin proposed by the Department of Labor and NLRB are decidedly anti-business and heavily pro-union.

The Department of Labor (DOL) and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) each proposed regulations which many I the employer community believe will make it easier for unions to organize, while harming the ability of workers to make an informed decision to join a union.

The first came on Monday from the DOL’s Office of Labor Management Standards (OLMS), which proposed a regulation mandating that anyone giving advice to an employer during a union election must submit a disclosure to the Department.

Whatever it Takes

By any means necessary, that is mantra of the progressives. These people have absolutely no shame. In what should have been a completely non-political event was turned into one when protesters (protesting who knows what) dressed as zombies interrupted a Special Olympic event. When Wisconsin Governor Walker was giving a speech to the attendees, commending them on their efforts, the protesters first booed him then marched into a position that put them between the Special Olympians and Gov Walker. The video was posted on You Tube by the good folks at the MacIver Institute.

Judge Bans Prayer at Texas High School Graduation

Another example of how this nation is moving away from the values on which it was founded. In Texas, and judge has barred any form of prayer at a high school graduation.  Among the words banned are:

Prayer

Amen

Join in prayer

Bow their heads

The judge made is ruling “in response to a lawsuit filed by Christa and Danny Schultz.”

The judge declared that the Schultz family and their son would “suffer irreparable harm” if anyone prayed at the ceremony. (Source: Fox News)

The judge has also threatened jail time with a contempt of court charge if his ruling is not followed.

Trump as an Independent?

Let’s hope this is just a joke. The last thing we need is some cowboy running as an Independent. For whatever reason, Obama remains popular and the 2012 election will most likely be a close one.  If Trump does decide to pull a Perot, he could very well cost Republicans the White House in 2012.

Deep inside, I really hope he decides not to run. I know this is an ego thing for Trump as he continuously searches for approval.  But Trump cannot be considered a stupid man. Let us hope that his brains overrule his ego and he foregoes this folly before he does some serious damage like letting Obama win a second term.

I am filing this under stupidity.

It is Not Climate Change

This is just stupid beyond belief. Al Roker, the “Today” show weather bubba is blaming the increased tornadoes on climate change. Well, he could have had a decent argument. The number of tornadoes is at the extreme maximum amount but my research indicates we are still below a couple of years in the ‘50s and ‘60s. Where he blew it and probably showed that he really might not know what he is talking about is when said this:

“We have had these tornadoes and earlier this week we had a tornado in Philadelphia. And so, you know out weather, or climate change is such now that we are seeing this kind of weather not just in rural parts of our country, but in urban centers as well.” (Source: The Daily Caller)

We Have the Energy We Need, But We don't Use It.

I wonder if any of you know that America has the world’s largest reserves natural energy reserves. And do you know why we are not tapping into these reserves?  Doug over at Director Blue has the answer. He also provides a quick breakdown of exactly what we have sitting under our own soil and oceans. For years both sides of the aisle have talked about reducing our dependence on foreign oil for our energy while we sit on the world’s largest reserves of energy. That is what environmental nuttiness will do to a nation.
