Will MSM Investigate Media Matters?

Not sure if any of you have seen this, but it is sure worth a read. The corruption of the Obama White House has been well chronicled across the right-leaning blogosphere as well has the disgusting hero worship of “The Chosen One” by the lame stream media. In the post linked here, Nice Deb provides some comparisons between Nixon’s Watergate, which forced him to resign in shame, and the ties between Media Matters and the Obama Administration.

What are the striking similarities between Nixon’s Watergate and what might be called, inevitably, Obama’s Media Mattersgate?

- The use of Private investigators to investigate the private lives off opponents: In the Nixon era, hiring a private investigator (Tony Ulasewicz) to investigate the private lives of opponents was the brainchild of John Ehrlichman. In the Obama era, hiring private investigators appears as a Media Matters recommendation in a memo by Karl Frisch. (Source: Nice Deb)

Deb points out a little later in her post that Frisch wrote in a memo:

“We should hire private investigators to look into the personal lives of Fox News anchors, hosts, reporters, prominent contributors, senior network and corporate staff.”

Media Matters Takes Aim at Fox News

Media Matters (MM) has made it official; they are going after Fox News. Glenn Beck did a bit about it on his radio show Monday.  Politico has the details. And the “Washington Examiner” has the possible legal ramifications.

In the Politico story, David Brock outlines what the plans are to take on Fox News and there is no coyness about it.

In an interview and a 2010 planning memo shared with POLTICO, Brock listed the fronts on which Media Matters – which he said is operating on a $10 million-plus annual budget – is working to chip away at Fox and its parent company, News Corp.  They include its bread-and-butter distribution of embarrassing clips and attempts to rebut Fox points, as well as a series of under-the-radar tactics.

Media Matters, Brock said, is assembling opposition research files not only on Fox’s top executives but on a series of midlevel officials. It has hired an activist who has led a successful campaign to avoid Glenn Beck’s show. The group is assembling a legal team to help people who have clashed with Fox to file lawsuits for defamation, invasion of privacy or other causes.  And it has hired two experienced reporters, Joe Strupp and Alexander Zaitchik, to dig into Fox’s operations to help assemble a book on the network, due out in 2012 from Vintage Anchor.
