Terrorist Kill Their Own

One of the scariest things about Islamist terrorist is their complete lack of anything close to a conscience. They will kill anyone at anytime and at any place.

Just yesterday, militants in Somalia set off a bomb at the education ministry that killed at least 70 people.

Al-Qaida-linked militants launched their deadliest single bombing in Somalia on Tuesday, killing 70 people and demonstrating how the group that blocked aid to famine victims can still mount devastating violence even after most of its fighters fled the capital in August.

A truck loaded with drums of fuel exploded outside the Ministry of Education on one of central Mogadishu’s busiest streets, where student and their parents were registering for scholarships offered by the Turkish government.

Rebels of the al-Shabab militant group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing, saying it was striking government officials and foreigners – referring to African Union peacekeeping troops supporting the UN-backed regime (Source: Associated Press via The Daily Beast)

This is just beneath contempt. Killing innocent civilians who want a better life marks these people as less than human. To think they would kill fellow Muslims who were hoping to get an education provided by a Muslim country defies comprehension. I guess these militants realize that the only way for them to stay in any sort of power is to keep the general population from understanding that education is the way out of poverty and failure. As long as the average Muslim is not allowed to develop critical thinking and reasoning, these murders will hold sway.

It has Started

I told you here that the leftist media was going to somehow try to attach the tragic attacks in Oslo Norway to the right. While it took a bit longer than the immediate reaction over the Tucson Tragedy, two days is still quite rapid, especially since very little CONCRETE information in know about the man who perpetrated the attacks. The New York Times is trying very hard to link the man accused of the killings and the Christian and right blogosphere. (NY Times link via Patterico)

OK, so let’s get a few things out on the table here. I am going to ask you a few questions. Which religion, Islamists or Christians, advocates the killing of non-believers? Which religion, Islamists or Christians, have cells around the world dedicated to wiping out those who don’t believe as they do? Which religion, Islamist or Christian, has training outposts deep in remote regions of the world that train people to kill those who do not believe as they do? Which religion, Islamist or Christian, has a religious book that espouses death at man’s hand, rather than God’s, to those who do not follow the text? How often have you read about a Christian group targeting a Muslim group? Or a Baptist group going after a Catholic group? Or a Lutheran group going after a Mormon group?

Christian Churches Burned in Egypt

It is rapidly becoming apparent that the so-called freedom movement in Egypt is nothing even remotely freedom-like.  What is even sadder is the Lame Stream Media is taking great pains to make the most recent events seem like it was “two for tangoing”. Reality is that two Christian churches were burnt to the ground while nary a mosque was touched.

The Muslim Brotherhood, who has really taken control in Egypt, has a history of Christian persecution. In fact, radicalized Islam is out to eradicate Jews and Christians from the Middle East.

Beheading Equals a Book Being Burned

Do two wrongs make a right? Florida Pastor Terry Jones burned a Koran last month and now the entire muslim world is up in arms.  Jones is beyond stupid for burning the Koran.  It just smells like the book burnings of the middle 20th Century. Civilized people don’t burn books just because they are opposed to what is written on the pages.

So rather than protest in a peaceful manner, muslims in Afghanistan have decided the best way to show their displeasure is to kill 10 United Nations workers, beheading two of them.  Don’t you just love the peaceful, serene religion of Islam?

Muslim Brotherhood Makes It's Move in Egypt (Updated)

During the protest in Egypt, there was some minor concern, dismissed by the administration, that the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) might be playing a role. Some even mentioned concerns about MB’s role in Egyptian politics after the likely fall of Mubarak.  These concerns were also dismissed by the MSM and the administration as being afraid of the boogy-man.

Well, it seems that our concerns might have been with merit.  Due to 30+ years of oppression coming from the Egyptian government, there was no political party structure. Why organize a political party when the elections are rigged? However, the MB does have a structure in which they have been able to slowly move into the vacuum created by the fall of Mubarak and his government.

Taxes to be extended. How often do you hear about a government program that was supposed to be temporary wind up being permanent? Here in the local area, the state is looking for ways to offset a huge budget shortfall. One way to fund areas that might get the ax under budget cuts is to extend a tax on tourism that was scheduled to end in 2012. This tax was used to pay off Safeco Field, the Mariners Baseball Club’s new downtown digs. If lawmakers get their way, they will use it to expand the convention center to the tune of $600M, build and refurbish low income housing (mostly used by those employed in the hospitality industry), and the arts. The funny thing about this is that only King County (Seattle) will be effected. I covered this in a little more detail in an earlier post.

Seattle Mayor wants to shut down the Alaskan Way Viaduct. In what I would consider a pretty bold move Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn has stated he would like to see the viaduct closed in 2012, which had been an original target date. According to his spokesperson, he does not have a plan on how to handle any immediate traffic disruptions caused by an early closure.
