Snowfall Records Continue to Be Set

Most of my readers know that I am not a proponent of man-made global warming. This opposition is based on two things. First of all, I am a meteorologist. While I was not trained as some prestigious school like Peen State or MIT, steeped in scientific learning, I have years of practical experience. I have studied weather trends that occur over the short duration as well as climatic trends that occur over the centuries (and longer). And if there is one thing that I do know is that weather changes from day to day, year to year, decade to decade, century to century, and eon to eon.

The second reason why I have my doubts is that of those who believe in global warming and would like to change how we live (dramatic change in many cases) tend to be of the progressive/socialist belief system. To many of these people, it isn’t so much that they want necessarily want to change the way we live to save the planet, they want us to change our ways because they want to control our ways. The want to dictate what kind of car we drive, how warm or cool we keep our houses, and even where we live.

All you have to do is scratch the surface just a bit to find that many of the same people who believe that we should all live in hi-rises downtown and ride buses everywhere also are pushing this climate change (used to be global warming) agenda.  The same people who dictate how we can use or land are also telling us that is we don’t change how we live the planet is going to die. All one has to do is research a little to find that most of the progressive agenda is tied together in an attempt to control our lives and how we live those lives.

Don’t get me wrong, as humans we have done some serious damage to this planet and in many places we continue to do so. All one has to do is look at the Aral Sea in the former Soviet Union to see the damage that can be caused when we don’t think seriously about our impact on the earth. Having clean water and clean air is a good thing to strive for because we all want to drink clean water and breathe clean air.

Here is my adopted home state we just had a record breaking snow year. Snowfall amounts are over 200% of normal at many measuring stations. The route through the Northern Cascades pass will have one of the latest openings in many years, Crystal Mountain Ski Resort has had the most snowfall in their entire history of being open with just over 600 inches recorded so far this season. Several other ski areas have also received epic amounts.  In California, Mammoth Mountain has shattered their previous snowfall record with 663 inches of snowfall.

I know that there will be global warming enthusiasts that will try to point out this epic snowfall is directed tied to climate change. I say bull hockey. Previous record amounts of snowfall have been recorded over the years and those amounts were before all the global warming hysteria. California Sierra Nevada’s have experienced snowfall amounts not seen since the turn of the last century, well before global warming and climate change was invented to fill OwlGore’s bank account.

Anytime there are abnormalities in the weather, it is because of global warming or climate change. It’s hot because of climate change, it’s cold because of climate change, it’s wet because of climate change, it’s dry because of climate change.  How about it is all of those because it is the weather.
