A couple of comments on the first night democrat virtual convention.
It takes some huge cajones for the DNC to trot out Governor Cuomo and have him speak about how the government (i.e. President Trump) failed regarding Covid-19. While I agree there is blame to be shared, having the dude who put Covid positive folks back into nursing homes lecture us about failure of policy is the height of hypocrisy.
Anyone else find it interesting that Michelle Obama talked about the so-called cages used by the border Patrol but didn't bother mentioning those cages were a result of policies furthered by her husband.
Probably not going watch what happens from here on out. There is only so much BS a person can stand in week, and I had about a month's worth.
This weekend we got a taste of what could happen if the nation is forced to implement the so-called "New Green Deal". As temperatures soared across the West and Southwest, California experienced rolling blackouts because they didn't have enough power to meet demand.
California has one of the most far reaching, and misguided, policies on power generation in the USA. If I'm not mistaken, by the 2023 50% of all power generated in California must come from renewable sources. Wind and solar. As these power generating plants come on line gas plants are mothballed.
What is most telling was the rolling blackouts began around 630pm. Anybody wanna take a guess why this was the start of the blackouts? Oh, and one of the largest wind facilities was useless, because...
wait for it.... there was no wind.
And while Californians suffered through the heat and periods of darkened homes and businesses, other Western states didn't experience the same outcome. States like Oregon and Washington are diverse in their ability to generate power. They have wind and solar. But there are also hydro and fossil fuel plants. Same thing in Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico.
From the you can't make this category:
Today President Trump pardoned Susan B. Anthony. And the left went nuts. Lt. Gov Kathy Hochul of New York has demanded that Trump rescind the pardon. "I was deeply troubled to learn Trump went ahead and treated her like a criminal." Considering she was convicted of voter fraud, criminal fits.
On the other hand, the NYT called her a "... divisive figure..." because she was anti-abortion. Really? The one person who is most recognized as a leader of the woman's suffrage movement. And they have termity to call her divisive just because she was pro-life at a time when abortion was nearly universally considered an abomination against humanity.
I wonder if Rep Sharice Davids (D-Kansas) or Rep Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico) are a little perturbed at the DNC's choice to have someone who has 1/1024% native blood participate on the Native American caucus panel last night
