All We Know...

All we are saying is that no one has even begun to explain how we are going to convert from a fossil fuels-based economy to a renewable energy economy. Sure windmills, solar farms at the like are discussed in glowing terms as the answer to all that ails us. No one has explained how a grid that is troubling now is going to handle the increased demand as we switch over to renewables. No one has explained how people who are low to middle income are going to be able to afford to purchase all that is necessary for a renewable economy. Has anyone actually studied and researched what it will take to shift completely to a renewable based lifestyle? I would be willing to wager there are studies out there, but they can’t be released because the answer to just to dire.

All we are asking is how much money will it take to convert from fossil fuels to all renewables? Multi billions? Trillions? We know enough about this transition to know it will be expensive. We also know enough that if the government is involved, the cost will be even higher. Nothing the government ever touches is cheap. I truly believe that it will make the 100’s of billions spent on the interstate system and the trillions spent on the so-called “Great Society” programs look like monopoly money.

All we are pointing out is when Mt. Etna erupts it spews out more CO2 into the atmosphere in a day than mankind has released since the dawn of time. We want you to know that we are aware of this fact. We also want you to know cow farts and driving around in our SUVs, we haven’t even begun to have an impact when compared to hat mother nature can release in a moment.

All we what is for you to agree the climate changes. It has changed. And it will change. It has always done so and will continue to do so. Without humans. We know for a fact that before the advent of any form of human released CO2, there have been periods of warmer climate in recorded history. We know that when Christ walked the earth, it was considerably warmer than it is now. It is also a fact the during Medieval times, the earth was also quite warm.

All we want you to know is that we are very much aware that the climate tyrants have yet to provide a target. What is the target temperature we are trying to achieve via all of the draconian measure that left would like us to surrender to? Will eating less meat, or none at all, get us there? Will giving up our gas-powered vehicles, our property rights, and our freedoms to choose get us to climate nirvana? What is climate nirvana? What is the right amount of rainfall for Seattle? What is the perfect temperature for Chicago? How much snow should fall in the Rockies? If these numbers are provided and Seattle gets more rainfall one year, do we have to give more? If Chicago is a bit cooler on a giving year than what it is “supposed to be”, were the measures not enough? If instead of 10 feet of snow in Aspen 11 feet should happen to fall, what happens then? 

All we know is that every single climate prediction for the past 50 years has proven to be false. Every. Single. One. In the 70’s we were all gonna die because the next ice age was just round the corner. In the 1980’s through the 1990’s global warming was going to do us in. When the temperatures stopped rising and the Mann hockey stick was shown to have been to be possibly manipulated, it was climate disruption. When climate disruption was not catching on because hurricane intensity didn’t increase and tornados weren’t as deadly as predicted, the next marketing scheme became climate change. I will give the globalist credit; they have hung on to this definition like a dog on a bone. The thought was who can argue against climate change? Easy to manipulate the masses into believing the changes in climate are a direct result of humans. Those who are hyping climate change and the draconian measures they espouse know a significantly large portion of the population won’t bother to do any sort of fact checking. They will drink up the climate change narrative without a second thought. Everyone who is not a globalist, or a leftist, knows that the climate changes. It has always changed and will continue to do so.

Lastly, we are all very much aware what the globalists want to accomplish has absolutely nothing to do with “saving the planet”. Oh sure, the useful idiots who parrot the climate change rhetoric are true believers. That is readily apparent. But those at the levers of power don’t care one iota about the planet. Their behavior says it all. Private jets. Laws that exclude the rich and powerful. It is all about power and control. It is all about fundamentally changing the way the 99% live their lives. If you think that while the powerful are espousing that we all live in cramped high-rise apartments and eat bugs while they will do the same, you really need to pull your head out of your backside. Do you really think Obama will give up his estates in Hawaii or Martha’s Vineyard? Do you think Newsome will give up his ribeye and fancy bottles of wine in the name of climate change? If you think the elites will curb their globetrotting ways, you just aren’t terrible smart. If you think it is OK for the elites to tell us how to live our lives, where we can live, what we can eat, how much (if any) property we can own, and use the term for the “common good” while the powerful don’t practice what the preach, you truly are not very bright. The term “useful idiots” has been attributed to various Marxist and communist leaders: Lenin, Stalin, and a host of others, have used this to describe the people, both in and out of the various countries, whom they used, and later discarded, to rise to tyranny. If you who support the tyrannical dictates from the global elite think you are going to be taken on the ride they are attempting to build, the term fits you like a well-fitting pair of boots. Those same boots will be used to step on your neck.

As a lede in, I will say there has been plenty of warning from many in the blogoshere and elsewhere that once covid-19 was done or had lost it ability to scare the weak-spirited, the global progressives would move on to the next "thing". Welp, here we are. The so-called climate crisis isn't new by any means. 

The far left have been trying to scare us normal folk with the end of the world as we know it (EOTWAWKI) since the 1960s. I am purposely skipping over Ukraine because it has been/will be short lived. Once this has moved to back burner, something else will take its place. They can't take money from us or attempt to control our actions so it will soon become yesterday's news. 

An Exchange With A Snowflake

The other day a friend of mine on Facebook posted his displeasure with PDT decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Accords. As you  might gather, I fully agree with this decision. This accord was nothing more than a movement of wealth from rich nations (Like the USA) to poor nations (mostly Africa). Interestingly, it wasn't my friend who decided to exchange thoughts with me, but rather his wife. I have known my friends for 10+ years, he was a junior officer I highly respected during my final few years in the service. But I never had the pleasure of meeting his wife other than just a brief meet and greet several years ago.  So I am going to post the exchange in order of posting. I would like your feedback in how I handled the situation.

This first is the original post. It was a response to a news article that my friend posted notifying that PDT has decided to pull the USA from the Paris Climate Accords.

Friend: Oh no!!!! No no no!!!!!!! Damn it!

ME: I'm glad we're done with this scam. Even reasonable folks who believe in hot/wet/cold/dry should view this agreement with disdain. It was nothing more than a massive transfer of wealth from the USA to other countries. Our financial contributions to the agreement far outstripped our "contribution" to global cooling/warming/climate change. The world will wring their hands over us "backing out". But not because the world will end, but because the greedy little jerks aren't gonna get our money.

My Friends Wife (MFW): Is this guy serious?? We come in at 17% only 2nd to China at 20% and followed by India, the next highest at only 4%!! WE ARE THE PROBLEM!!! OF COURSE WE SHOULD PAY MORE!! My god I just can't even understand why any American wouldn't agree with joining forces with other countries to try and limit our negative effects of OUR GREED on the planet. Climate Changers Growing Desperate

Signs that the climate change advocators are growing desperate.

1. A Professor sociology and environmental studies at the University of Oregon has called for so-called climate-change deniers to be to be diagnosed as sick and for them to be treated.

Professor Kari Norgaard, who is currently appearing the ‘Planet Under Pressure’ conference in London, has presented a paper in which she argue that “cultural resistance” to accepting the premise that humans are responsible for climate change “must be recognized and treated” as an aberrant sociological behavior.

Norgaard equates skepticism of climate alarmists – whose data is continually proven to politicized, agenda driven and downright inaccurate – with racism, nothing that overcoming such viewpoints poses a similar challenge “to racism or slavery in the U.S. South.” (Source: Prison Planet)

This is a very scary line from the University of Oregon Media page that summarizes the “paper.”

“Climate change poses a massive threat to our present social, economic and political order. From a sociological perspective, resistance to change is to be expected,” she said. “People are individually and collectively habituated to the way we act and think. This habituation must be recognized and simultaneously addressed at the individual, cultural and societal level – how we think the world works and how we think it should work.” (Bold belongs to PACNW Righty)

Anytime we have these self-anointed liberal elites talking about how the world should be changed through behavioral changes scares the snot out of me. It almost seems as if these people are talking about re-education camps or some form of brainwashing. I know these people think they are smarter than us, but taking it to this level, insisting on forced behavioral changes (indoctrination), is taking it too far. And bear in mind, these kinds of people support, with a great deal of vigor, our current President.

2. The same University of Oregon Professor has also called on President Obama to suspend democracy and public opinion and implement climate change rules through Executive Orders.

“Policymakers should not wait for public opinion to take necessary action,” she writes, adding, “Public opinion does matters in a democracy, but this is a time when following it would be a serious mistake.”

But this isn’t the first time that a climate changer has called for democracy to be ended for the sake of the climate. Back in 2010 James Lovelock said the following in an interview with the Guardian in the UK regarding how to tackle climate change (scroll down):

We need a more authoritative world. We’ve become a sort of cheeky, egalitarian world where everyone can have their say. It’s all very well, but there are certain circumstances – a war is a typical example – when you can’t do that. You’ve got have a few people with authority who you trust who are running it. And they should be accountable too, of course.

But it can’t happen in a modern democracy. This is one the problems. What’s the alternative to democracy? There isn’t one. But even the best democracies agree that when a major war approaches, democracy must be put on hold for the time being. I have a feeling that climate change may be an issue as severe as a war. Quick question for you Mr. Lovelock: who gets to decide who these “few people with authority” are going to be, AND who is going to hold them accountable? A couple more questions: Who gets to decide when we suspend democracy? And when do we come out of this period of tyranny?

3. There are even some who are calling for the removal or SIGNIFICANT reduction of the human population. Keith Farnish has written a book titled Time’s Up where he calls for the reduction of human by causing (or at least doing nothing to prevent) the collapse of civilization as we know it. The Telegraph UK sums it up nicely with a few excerpts from Farnish’s book:

“In short, the greatest immediate risk to the population living in the conditions created by Industrial Civilization is the population itself. Civilization has created the perfect conditions for a terrible tragedy on the kind of scale never seen before in the history of humanity. That is one reason for there to be fewer people, providing you are planning on staying with civilization – I wouldn’t recommend it though.”

“Unloading essential means the removal of an existing burden: for instance, removing grazing domesticated animals, razing cities to the ground, blowing up dams and switching off the greenhouse gas emissions machine. Every once in a while I like to remind some of my liberal friends that this is the kind of people that support Barack Obama. When they fire back at me that those racist nutjobs living in the woods espousing the overthrow of our government also support conservative causes, I like to point out that we conservatives tend to run away from these guys as fast as we can. However, the media is often more than willing to gives these leftwing knuckleheads all the press they desire, and most often, it is glowing terms.

Climategate Again

While it is still early in the game, it looks like Climategate 2.0 has arrived. Another batch of emails from Michael Mann and others heavily invested in global warming/climate change has been released. From what I have been able to gather, these new emails are not quite as shattering as the initial release two years ago. But they do give a good insight into the thinking of these folks.

One snippet indicates that one of the folks may have deleted emails to avoid Freedom Of Information Act requests. Now why would you do something like that unless what you had was damaging? Just askin'.

Snowfall in New England

It looks like a couple of inches of global warming is going to hit the East Coast today. New York could get its first measureable snowfall since the Civil War. I know most of us weren’t around during the Civil War (although my kids might beg to differ), but I certainly don’t remember my text books (before the progressive ruined history) telling me that this was a time of huge industrialization. I bring this up because somehow, one of the high-priests of global warming/climate change is going to blame this earl snowfall on global warming/climate change.

Gore at it Again

OwlGore is an idiot. Now he is equating anyone who does not believe in man-caused global warming with the anti-civil rights people of the 1950’s and 60’s.

“I remember, again going back to my early years in the South, when the Civil rights revolution was unfolding, there were two things that really made an impression on me,” Gore said. “My generation watched Bull Conner turning the hose on civil rights demonstrators and we went ‘Whoa! How gross and evil is that?’ My generation asked old people, ‘Explain to me again why it is okay to discriminate against people because their skin color is different?’ And when they couldn’t really answer that question with integrity, the change really started.” (Source: The Daily Caller)

First of all, Gore has to provide me with some sort of bona-fides regarding his civil rights records before he can speak to me like this. To the best of my recollection, his civil right portfolio is pretty skimpy. His father’s record on this matter certainly doesn’t give OwlGore any street-cred. I am in no way saying the “little” Gore is a racist. Heck, he’s a democrat and everyone knows that democrats are not racist. But his name isn’t one of those names that pops up when the discussion of civil rights leaders (or even important followers) comes up. In comparison, Charlton Heston, one-time NRA president, was a staunch and very visible civil rights supporter (and he was Republican).

EU Shaking Down US Airlines

Early this year the European Union passed a requirement that all airlines that land or takeoff from European airports must pay a carbon tax.

Starting Jan. 1, the union intends to expand its emission trading system to cover emissions from most flights that touch down in, or take off from, European airports. That means even foreign airlines will have to buy some of the carbon permits from traders and European governments. (Source: NY Times)

I am not sure which is the saddest about this. That the European Union is still hitching their horses to the global warming bandwagon, or that no one will call bullcrap on this blatant attempt by the EU to get money from US airlines any way they can.

Some of the US-based carriers are pushing back, filing suit in the European Court of Justice.

Still Lots of Snow in Them Thar Hills

Anyone care to guess where 907 inches of global warming fell this past winter? So much fell, that visitor days to Mt Rainer National Park are down 30 percent this summer.

The winter of 2010-2011 was an epic snow year. So much so that ski resorts in California stayed open into June and the highway to Artist Point is covered with 30 feet of snow.

Is the Global Scam Losing Steam?

Is this article a sign that the whole global warming scam has run its course? First off, the article suggests that NASA data used by the “warming” crowd has been read incorrectly.

NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth’s atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmist have claimed. One of the co-authors of the study, Dr. Roy Spencer had this to say:

“The satellite observations suggest there is much more energy lost to space during and after warming than climate models show,” Spencer said in a July 26 University of Alabama press release. “There is a huge discrepancy between that data and the forecasts that is especially big over the oceans.”

In addition to finding that far less heat is being trapped than alarmist computer models have predicted, the NASA satellite data show the atmosphere begins shedding heat into space long before United Nations computer models predicted. (Source: Yahoo News)

I wonder how long it will be before OwlGore explodes. The more information that gets studied, the more clear it becomes that the global warming efforts were nothing more than an attempt at controlling our lives by people who think they are smarter than us. When the communist movement fell through, these radicals had to have another outlet. They choose the environmental movement. There they met kindred spirits; people that wanted to control what, where, and how we did things. It was a match made in mother earth.

Secondly, to get us back to the original point, I do find it interesting that Yahoo would use the term alarmist. This would be a change for them. Yahoo has traditionally been on the side of the global warming crowd. So, can we surmise that with Yahoo publishing an article that calls the global warming crowd “alarmists” that the global warming scam has run its course? Will we be able to get back to using terms like drought, and “more rain than normal”, and heavy snowfall in the mountains”, and “my gosh, it is HOT this week”?

I hope so.

Media Enables Global Warming Hysteria Narrative

We all know that the whole global warming/climate change scam is for one purpose and one purpose only; to gain control over how you heat and cool your home, what kind of vehicle you drive, and how you spend the money that you earn (higher taxes). This will be achieved through a series of laws and regulations that will completely stifle the economy and make the government even more intrusive in our lives.

We also know that the lame stream media is completely culpable in this scam. They have continuously feed us lies and distortions of the truth to further the leftist agenda of more control through these global warming regulations and laws. The recent coverage of the US heat wave is just a small example.

They touted OwlGore as a seer of climate knowledge when in fact his movie, An Inconvenient Truth was so filled with false information that the courts in England made them release a disclaimer when showing the movie. Plus the Science and Public Policy Institute released a report that showed as many as 35 errors in the movie. Did the media jump all over these inaccuracies? Of course not; and they even let Gore try (in vain I might add) to refute the errors.

The Mann Hockey stick temperature graph was an oft-quoted and highly recognized piece of global warming propaganda used by the global warming crowd as irrefutable evidence that the world was warmer today than any period over the last 2,000 years. There was only one problem; the builder of the graph might have fudged the data to hide a medieval warming period. When “Climategate” broke, the hockey graph was history, as well as the credibility of the folks who were responsible for the data manipulation. Where was the lame stream media when it was discovered the graph had false data? I think they might have been watching the Olympics.

The media silence was deafening when it was discovered that NASA (A noted Global Warming supporter) had used a faulty correction algorithm on the temperatures between 2000 and 2006. This really upset the whole global warming narrative apple cart. One of the favorite talking points of the left was that nine of the warmest years have occurred since 1995. Once NASA was pretty much forced to recalculate the corrections, turns out that four of the hottest years actually occurred during the 1930. One must note that 1930s are at the beginning of the hockey stick graph and the correct data was not used in the graph.

Well the media is at it again. It has been a hot summer for most of the US outside the PACNW. According to the media, it has been a record breaking year. Technically speaking, they are correct, temperatures have been broken. But listening to hysteria surround these record breaking temperatures, you’d think records would be falling left and right. Not so. Statistically speaking, very few high temperature records have actually fallen during the recent heat wave. So few temperature records have actually been broken that the heat wave is statistically insignificant.

I know, if you are suffering through the heat, it is not insignificant to you. And there has been tragedy as more than two dozen have perished due to the heat. But heat waves across the Midwest are not uncommon. I lived in Omaha, NE for nine summers during the 1990's and don’t recall a year where temps didn’t soar into the upper 90’s for weeks at a time. It was oppressive and I hated it. I couldn’t wait for fall and looked at the upcoming summers with dread.

As an added note, this has been the best snowfall season in 21 years for Australia.

Snowbird Utah Sets Records

Gosh dang that global warming or climate change, or whatever you want to call it today. Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort in Utah had so much climate change (global warming?) this past winter that the resort was able to stay open to July 4th for only the third time in its history. Snowbird also set their record for the longest season at 202 days.  There is still 12 feet of global warming (climate change?) at the top of the resort.  As an added bonus, because of whatever (climate change/global warming) Snowbird also set a record for the most total snowfall in a season.

OwlGore, where are you?

BTW: ever notice that when a record amount of snowfall occurs, no one ever says a thing about climate change/global warming. But if high temps are broken, or rainfall decreases over a period of time, OwlGore and his crew are right there saying “See, I told you so!”

Climate People Caught Manipulating Data (Yet Again!)

For all you climate change denier deniers out there, take a look at this. Still think the data for global warmer and man-caused climate change isn’t fixed? The folks that are still pushing this scam to gain control of everything we say and do have a lot of explaining to do. No longer will saying “the data supports the trend” be valid. Cheating, lying, and just plain being wrong have cost the climate changers all of their respectability.

True, the amount added to the sea level data is miniscule, but it all boils down to being truthful. What else are the climate changers fudging? We know NASA manipulated temperature data. Everyone has read or heard about the climate-gate emails. Now screwing around with sea level data. Do these people have any shame? To answer that question all one has to do is look at OwlGore.

Low Sunspot Activity = A Mini-Ice Age?

Another quick note for tonight:

Over at American Thinker there is a short little post about decreased sunspot activity and the possible impact on our climate. In times past, low sunspot activity has resulted in what has been termed a “mini-ice age”.  Since the same people who touted global cooling in the 1970s are the same people who are now screaming global warming, more than likely the same voices will be raised when the earth’s climate changes yet again, just like it has done over the years, is doing now, and will do for the foreseeable future.

It certainly didn’t take long for those scientists who have staked their reputations on the whole global warming scheme to come up with a counter-point.

The temperature change associated with any reduction in sunspot activity would likely be minimal and may not be enough to offset the impact of greenhouse gases on global warming, according to scientists who have published recent papers on the topic.

“Recent solar 11-year cycles are associated empirically with changes in global surface temperatures of 0.1 Celsius.” Said Judith Lean, a solar Physicist with the US Naval Research Laboratory.

Weekend Update

1. Anger Level Rising. Just a quick link to  a story that shows Americans are starting to get a little upset at the direction (or may the lack thereof) of our nation. I would venture a guess that behind the anger is a good amount of fear. I don’t think the level of despair is at Great Depression levels, but I have a feeling we are feeling just a tad antsy at what is going on.

2. HR 909, Seems Like a Good Plan. A bill currently making its way through Congress would take a lot from the conservative point of view and meld it with some of the energy source development favored by the progressives. From what I have read, it really does seem like a good idea.

I Am A Climate Change Denier, But...

Doing a little catching up on the environmental posts. This story from the USA Today compares those who deny man-caused global warming exists to the birthers.

Late last week, the nation’s pre-eminent scientific advisory group, the National Research Council arm of the National Academy of Sciences, issued a report called “America’s Climate Choices.”  As scientific reports go, its key findings were straightforward and unequivocal” “Climate change is occurring, is very likely caused primarily by human activities, and poses significant risks to humans and the environment.”  Among those risks in the USA: more intense and frequent heat waves, threats to coastal communities from rising sea levels, and greater drying of the arid Southwest.

So Ok, let’s break this down a little. The article calls the National Research Council “the nation’s pre-eminent scientific advisory group”. Well, there might some truth to that, but what might be missing from this description are the ties to progressive agendas, especially those related to climate change. The chairman of the Council is Ralph Cicerone, who has been honored with several awards related to his study of climate change and his “leadership in protecting the global environment”. Furthermore, a key member, Barbara Schaal, has served on President Obama’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. I could mention even more, but you get the drift. This “pre-eminent scientific advisory board” is loaded with folks who most likely have a left leaning, global warming is occurring and man is the cause, viewpoint. It’s not like Obama is going to appoint a conservative climate change "denier" to any of his scientific councils.

Snowfall Records Continue to Be Set

Most of my readers know that I am not a proponent of man-made global warming. This opposition is based on two things. First of all, I am a meteorologist. While I was not trained as some prestigious school like Peen State or MIT, steeped in scientific learning, I have years of practical experience. I have studied weather trends that occur over the short duration as well as climatic trends that occur over the centuries (and longer). And if there is one thing that I do know is that weather changes from day to day, year to year, decade to decade, century to century, and eon to eon.

The second reason why I have my doubts is that of those who believe in global warming and would like to change how we live (dramatic change in many cases) tend to be of the progressive/socialist belief system. To many of these people, it isn’t so much that they want necessarily want to change the way we live to save the planet, they want us to change our ways because they want to control our ways. The want to dictate what kind of car we drive, how warm or cool we keep our houses, and even where we live.

It is Not Climate Change

This is just stupid beyond belief. Al Roker, the “Today” show weather bubba is blaming the increased tornadoes on climate change. Well, he could have had a decent argument. The number of tornadoes is at the extreme maximum amount but my research indicates we are still below a couple of years in the ‘50s and ‘60s. Where he blew it and probably showed that he really might not know what he is talking about is when said this:

“We have had these tornadoes and earlier this week we had a tornado in Philadelphia. And so, you know out weather, or climate change is such now that we are seeing this kind of weather not just in rural parts of our country, but in urban centers as well.” (Source: The Daily Caller)

Global Warming at it Again

The California Sierra Nevada Mountains has experienced near record snowfall totals this year (h/t: Drudge Report). So far, 61 feet of snow has fallen, just four feet shy of the record of 65 feet set in the winter of 1950-51.

Ski resorts are also seeing records broken. With 605 inches of snowfall this season Mammouth Mountain has smashed their previous record of 579 inches. This does not include April which sees an average of about 33 inches.

Snowfall in the Sierra’s is at times feast or famine.  One year they could see eight feet of total snowfall, then the next year see over 40 feet.  There is no question California has experienced a drought over the last few years. But this is not unusual.  During the height of global cooling (1960’s-1970’s), the Sierra’s experienced less than normal snowfall totals for at least three straight years, and only exceeded average three out of eight years.  During the recent California drought actual snowfall totals exceeded average six times over a 10 year period.  And in the last three years, the snowfall totals were more than 100 inches over average each year.

As for the Global Warming excuse I have a feeling that OwlGore and his group will be sure to say “See, Global Warming is happening, how else do you explain the record snowfalls”.  Never mind they had also blamed the California drought on Global Warming (See here and here).  When it is hot, blame global warming, when it is cold, blame global warming, when is doesn’t rain, blame global warming, when it does rain, blame global warming.  So basically, they have all bases covered.  Back in the day, we used call this “weather” over the short period and climate over the long period.

BTW: Governor Jerry Brown is expected to officially declare the drought over.  Can we do the same with the whole Global Warming scam?
