Sarah Takes On GOP Establishment

I have not yet decided whom I am going to support in the primaries and probably won’t until forced to do so but please take a gander at this link.

Over at Legal Insurrection, Prof. Jacobson has reprinted an excerpt of an article where Sarah Palin takes the GOP establishment to task over their repeated attempts, especially since South Carolina, to smash Newt Gingrich.

Keep in mind that I am fully aware the Newt has warts, some of them pretty serious. But I do like that he is unafraid to take on the media and Obama in the most basic of terms (his terms BTW). I also do admire that he is not afraid to dream big dreams for America. In a way, that is much like Reagan. Reagan had a dream of defeating Communism in his time. He did it! Why can’t Newt dream also?

Cain Stands Tall

According to MSNBC, Martin Bashir, and democrat strategist Karen Finney those of who are conservative and are supporting Herman Cain (or leaning that direction such as myself) are using Cain to make us feel better about our supposed racist views.

“One of the things about Herman Cain is, I think that he makes that white Republican base of the party feel okay, feel like they are not racist because they can like this guy,” Finney said. “I think he’s giving that base a free pass. And I think they like him because they think he’s a black man who knows his place. I know that’s harsh, but that’s how it sure seems to me.”

Of course we feel good about Cain. He stands for nearly all that we stand for. He is fiscally conservative, he wants to seriously revamp an unfair tax system, he has socially conservative views, and he just also happens to me an all around nice guy (seems that way).

And I will agree that he knows his place, as he should. His place is at the front of the conservative movement, right besides the likes of Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Rep Paul Ryan, and others who are fighting to save this country for progressives like Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and those in the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Republican Field Set

Well, it looks like the Republican nomination race is set. Yesterday Chris Christie decided not to run and today, Sarah Palin also thought it wasn’t such a good idea.

I am actually glad both of these two are not running, but for different reasons.

I am not a fan of Gov Christie. While I do enjoy the heck out of the videos that pop up every so often, generally him taking some poor sap to school, I think he is too progressive/liberal on a couple of key platforms. I outlined my concerns in a post yesterday.

I do think that he was able to think this decision through and understand that while the press might be his friend right now, they would stop at nothing to tear him down. The issue raised about his weight more than likely gave him a taste of what he could expect.

I am a huge fan of Sarah Palin. I remember very clearly being quite pleased when John McCain announced her as his running mate in 2008. Not a lot of people had heard of her at that point, but since I traveled to Alaska several times in 2008, and make it a policy to follow local news, I was able to get a feel for her political philosophy. I liked the fact that she was no nonsense, and took on whoever needed a butt kicking (Rep or Dem).

But for her, and her family’s, sake I am glad she decided not to run. Never in the history of American politics has there ever been a more polarizing figure. Almost from day one the main stream media tried to tear her down. While the record of another complete unknown, this one from Illinois, was hardly given a second glance, enough reporters to fill a small airline were sent north to Given Palin the once-over.

To make matter even worse, once the press discovered that Palin couldn’t be had (her composure is remarkable), they took after her family. Todd and cheating allegations, Bristol’s child, and even Willow couldn’t be a kid without the press hanging them out to dry.

This evening, while discussing this with my better half, she asked me if I thought Palin not running was a good thing. She also happens to like Palin. Anyway, I told her that if she were Palin (their viewpoints on a lot of things dovetail) and I were her husband, I would ask not to run because the family has been through enough already. Whether the treatment from the press was a significant factor or not, I think they made the right call. And you know that the Palin’s will not admit the press played any part of their decision.

The Left Now Targeting Marcus Bachmann

Currently Michelle Bachmann is the hottest candidate out there. She has gained significantly in the polls on Mitt Romney (thank goodness), and in a couple of cases has actually surpassed the main stream media’s GOP designated Republican that is OK. But with the gains, also comes the attacks.

As most that follow Bachmann know, she is very much against the gay lifestyle. Her husband, Marcus, has even opened up a clinic is Minnesota that counsels gays who wish to change back to straight (Pray the gay away as the MSM call it). It seems there are rumors floating around the left side blogosphere that Mr. Bachmann might be a closest gay. The rumors are completely unsubstantiated and based totally on his mannerisms and speech.

Book on Palin Set For Release

How often do we hear about a former aide to one person or another writing a tell-all book, using it as a vehicle to possible fame and fortune? You have Andrew Young writing about democrat Presidential candidate John Edwards. Scott McClellan wrote about former two-term Republican President George Bush. Sometimes the book really is explosive as was the case with Young’s book on Edwards. Other times, it is a tempest in a teapot. McClellan’s book on Bush was really not all that revealing when it came right down to it.

The fact that former aide to Sarah Palin, Frank Bailey, is set to release a book soon is not news to most of us. News broke last Feb when a manuscript was “leaked” and the leftwing press got a hold of it. Now CNN is calling the soon to be released book a “chilling expose” on the former Governor of Alaska.  Based on what was leaked a couple of months ago, there had better be something better than Palin was “deeply exasperated with her political opponent” and the increased “attacks she faced after being tapped to be the GOP vice presidential nominee.” (Source: CNN)

Palin and the "Birther" Movement (Long Post)

The following is a long post, covering the Trump-Palin birther “stuff” and takes a stab at putting the whole birther movement to bed.

I have been a fan of Sarah Palin ever since she burst on the scene during the 2008 Presidential election. She is a breath of fresh air in a very stagnant political atmosphere. Her directness and plain speak caught many off guard, and have off-put many. I love the fact that her down to earth personality really gets on the nerve of the journalistic elite who have the wrong-headed opinion that one must graduate from an east coast school to be a national level politician. It gives me great pleasure to see that she “bugs” them as much as she does.  BTW: If you know any of these people and they try to tell she doesn’t get on their nerves, your BS radar should be screaming at you at that point.  I do believe that she would do a wonderful job leading this nation. And to write her off as not being smart is doing so at a risk. Just because she didn’t graduate from an Ivy League school doesn’t mean she isn’t smart. But I also realize that Palin is not a middle of the road candidate with a Reagan-style likability. I also realize that she can be a polarizing figure, most likely not electable, even in today’s back-to-basics movement.

Her ability to beat Obama in 2012 was probably 50/50 at best. She would have to run a perfect campaign by winning the usual states, taking states that have turned democrat recently, and maybe even stealing a Washington or New Hampshire or two to beat Obama. It would be a race between an incumbent teleprompter-savvy guy heavily supported by the press and a homespun, no nonsense, plain talking upstart from Alaska.

The Antiabortion Crowd’s Latest Target: African Americans

OK, where to get started with this one. Let’s take a look at “target”.  Isn’t this word inflammatory and will cause people to go on a shooting spree? How many times did the liberal press point out that Sarah Palin’s target map was the root of all evil? I guess it is OK for Yahoo! News to use the word target and use it a way that makes it seem like being aimed at.

Now we’ll look at “antiabortion”. When you are a liberal and want to make the pro-life folks look a little less human, you use the term antiabortion. Throw antiabortion with the word crowd and you have unruly mob or “group with nefarious intent”.

Palin Speaks, Tweeters are Chirping

There have been all kinds of fallout over Palin’s video. The left is tripping all over themselves trying to outdo each other with condemnation of what she said and how she said it (here, here, and here).  She is also now getting death threats. Someone has compiled a YouTube video of the tweets, which will probably be pulled shortly. I have included here just in case it gets pulled from YouTube. Be advised, the language in the video is very coarse. Their mothers would not be proud of them.

How much do you want to bet that if leading political figure on the left were receiving death threats this would be all over the news, but Palin gets them and all that is heard is chirping.

   I have a friend who is a card carrying liberal who cannot stand Palin. When I ask her to explain the reasons for her dislike of Palin, the answer is not very articulate. The answer basically comes across as "I just do". When I point out to her that Palin has a successful career, by all appearances is a great mom, has a strong marriage, and is a well rounded individual, just about everything that a feminist could love, she says Palin doesn't support abortion. But I point out to her that feminists are pro-choice, the right to choose whether to end the baby’s life. The Palin’s discussed abortion when she found out the Trig would be born with Downs Syndrome but made the CHOICE to have Trig. Seems to me that the feminists would cheer her on for having and doing all of that.

Palin Speaks, Liberals Harp

Last night, I posted the previous post would be the last on the Tucson shootings and the attempted assassination of Rep Giffords because it felt a little ghoulish to me to keep harping on how the left is trying to spin the whole situation. But Sarah Palin broke her silence and again the unhinged left-wing media couldn’t help themselves. Some days you just gotta wonder if the crap is ever going to stop.

At ABCNews there was a comparison between Palin’s speech that was posted on her facebook page and President Obama’s speech in Tucson last night (I’ll discuss his speech in another post). What I find most telling is that Michael Falcone and Amy Walter tried to do a side-by-side comparison. I thought this was a little unfair. Obama was expected to speak, he wanted to speak, and the nation needed him to speak. Palin, on the other hand, was attempting to push back at the pundits and progressive politicians that tried to lay the blame for the shooting at her feet.

Two things stand out in the article for me. This sentence is a little misleading to me. Whether it was done with intent or just because it was easier to write, I don’t know:

“ …if she didn’t address the debate swirling around her target map she just as quickly have been accused of ducking the tough questions.”

In this sentence they simultaneously give her credit for addressing probably the most contentious issue (the map) and neglected to tell the reader that “her target map” was not first ever used. Over the past several years, these types of maps with bull’s-eyes, crosshairs, and whatnot have been used by both sides of the political spectrum. To not point this out was at best careless on Falcone’s and Walter’s part and at worst, done with intent.

Funny Palin Stuff

This is beyond funny. “I Hate You, Bristol Palin”. Make sure you switch on your sarcasm funny bone.

Gosselin Vs. Palin

I think it is so funny when folks get their knickers in a knot over Sarah Palin. Most recently one of the stars of TLC’s “What Not To Wear”, Clinton Kelly, got a snotty over the fact that Palin hunted, killed, skinned, and butchered a caribou from the North Slope region of Alaska.

In the article Kelly is quoted as saying:

“What bothers me the most is her hypocrisy”. Look at nature. Look at beautiful Alaska…”

I find it amusing when someone who has really no clue other than what they read from the leftist talking points try to inject themselves into a subject matter they probably have no clue about. It is really easy to sit in your ivory tower in Beverly Hills or NYC and look down at the rest of world and our little idiosyncrasies and the way we choose to live our lives and pass judgment. For someone who has probably never even had the chance to smell the aroma of a wood fire, the felling of waking up on a crisp morning in the mountains, or never worn a down jacket other than as a fashion statement to have an opinion on Palin’s life is like me telling him his shoes are wrong with his shirt.

It also looks like Kate Gosselin doesn’t much care for her either. After watching Gosselin on Palin’s show and subsequent follow up interviews I have an idea the feeling is mutual. A lot of the left-wing media (I know, redundant) have accused Palin of being a diva. I would guess that after watching the episode with Gosselin deep in their cold, progressive hearts, they were thinking “Kate, shut your dang mouth, you are making Palin look good by comparison”. Gosselin spent a good portion of the program whining about the rain, the cold, the guns, and the bugs. While Palin just rolled with the conditions and the griping. Gosselin’s kids did better than she did. After watching Gosselin on the show, I think we really know who is the diva.
