Guilt or Innocence

Dear Readers: As you read through this little post please understand that this should not be misconstrued as showing support for any actions that Brett Farve may have allegedly committed. If the allegations leveled against him for fraud have any merit, then he needs to have his day in court, and if convicted, he should pay the price.

It is more or less a very brief essay on the complete intolerance and hypocrisy of the left.

Read the sourced article here.

A few days back Farve was on a podcast telling people they should avoid the mainstream media. “If you’re watching the news, depending on who you’re watching, 99.9% of the news is the left. So there’s a huge agenda,” Favre said on the podcast. “They control the narrative.” Why he felt he had to say this on Donald Trump, Jr’s podcast, which most likely has a conservative audience, is just a tad baffling to me. As conservatives, we already know this, Farve was preaching to the choir. But as in the case with nearly all conservative podcasts, there is always a small sliver of the audience that are progressives.

Retooling the Military

I have linked to Kurt Schlichter several times on this blog O' mine. I really enjoy his writing. I wish I could be as nimble with the words as he. He has a gift of gab when dancing his fingers across a keyboard.

Just tonight I read his latest non-paywall column and knew I had to excerpt and link.

Most of you are aware that I spent the lion's share of my adulthood serving this once great nation of ours. I thoroughly enjoyed my life in the military. While I have a few regrets, those are few and far between and of such little importance that I hardly remember them. The men and women I served with, with a couple of notable exceptions, were topnotch people. They were people I would, and had to, trust my life with at times.

Many of these folks came from rural America, and had mostly traditional views. They believed in the family. They believed in the Constitution. And they believed in America and what she has represented all of these years. The shining light on the hill. There were also others who came from suburbia and the inner cities. The vast majority also firmly believed in the promise that was America.

Random Thoughts (New)

A couple of comments on the first night democrat virtual convention.

It takes some huge cajones for the DNC to trot out Governor Cuomo and have him speak about how the government (i.e. President Trump) failed regarding Covid-19. While I agree there is blame to be shared, having the dude who put Covid positive folks back into nursing homes lecture us about failure of policy is the height of hypocrisy.

Anyone else find it interesting that Michelle Obama talked about the so-called cages used by the border Patrol but didn't bother mentioning those cages were a result of policies furthered by her husband.

Probably not going watch what happens from here on out. There is only so much BS a person can stand in week, and I had about a month's worth.

Some Statistics to Compare

With apologies to the Motor City Madman I am posting this in its entirety. I ran across this article by Ted Nugent a few years back and have had it sitting in my blog stuff folder so I could excerpt from it for my own post. But it says nearly everything that I wanted to say. If I could find the link I would have just posted it and had my dear readers head off that direction. But since I can’t, I’ll just repost.

Mr. Nugent, if you ever happen across my tiny little corner of the blogosphere and see this and wish it removed just let me know.

There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. U.S. population 324,059,091 as of Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.000000925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:

• 65% of those deaths are by suicide which would never be prevented by gun laws
• 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified
• 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons – gun violence
• 3% are accidental discharge deaths

Google "Bombs" Santorum

Republican nomination hopeful Rick Santorum has had his share of difficulties trying to gain traction during the initial series of primaries. Probably the most publicized issue was hubbub raised, mostly by liberals, over Santorum and his wife’s handling of the stillborn death of their child back in the mid ‘90’s. Of course, you knew the left would raise this issue, and try to paint Santorum as some sort of kook.

Even less publicized were the efforts of Google and gay rights activist Dan Savage. According to the article where I got this information, several news outlets, including MSNBC, ABC, and CNN, had an opportunity to call Savage on the carpet for his behavior towards Santorum. None of them did.

A few years ago Savage ran a contest for people to come up with the vilest definition for “Santorum.” Needless to say, what came up was pretty disgusting. As for Google, what they have done, really takes the cake. When doing a search for Santorum on Google the results of Savage’s contest come up as the top return. He is a screen capture.
Screen Capture Taken 27 Jan 2012

I blocked out the worst of it because it isn’t fit for print. If you must read it, do your own search because the “winning” definition is right there for you to see.

Cool Rhetoric From the Left

Unless you live under a rock, you will recall that the media and President Obama called for a cooling of the heated rhetoric in the wake of the Tucson Tragedy that claim the lives of six people and severely wounded several others, including Rep Giffords.

Well, here is a fine example of the cool rhetoric coming from left. (h/t: The Blaze)

Gingrich Surges

As the Republican primaries get closer to commencing, Newt Gingrich, whom I had written off this past summer, has seen a dramatic surge in the polls. I think his standing has as much to do with Herman Cain’s trials and tribulations as it does with the “anyone but Romney” feelings out there. I also happen to think that folks are discovering that Gingrich is actually a very smart man, who truly knows his stuff and would wipe the floor with Obama in any debate.

But Newt doesn’t come without some warts; many of them in fact. Most of us are aware of his serial marriages and some of the issues he had with ethics while serving as Speaker of the House during the Clinton Administration.  However, if you are willing to dig a little deeper, there might be a few other issues that might cause one to pause.

A friend of mine sent me a link to a blogger than she reads quite frequently and he really does have a problem with some of the stances that Gingrich has taken over the years.  In his post, the writer covers several topics that he feels make Gingrich not qualified to be the Republican nominee for President. (my take in italics)

- Campaigned for Nelson Rockefeller during the 1968 presidential elections. Anyone remotely familiar with the Rockefellers in general and Nelson in particular knows full well that no conservative could ever support such a candidate.

A little bit before my time, but I during some research on the Rockefellers, they do seem to have a bit of an elitist attitude towards most people. In fact, the Rockefellers could be the poster children for everything bad ever said about the Republicans.

Calm and Coolness by the Left (Again!)

How can people from the left be so vile yet still think they are better and smarter than folks on the right.

A couple of nights ago, Bristol Palin confronted a man who called her mom “evil”, a “whore”, and Wasilla white trash.”

Video via The Blaze.

I continue to be mystified at just how low the folks on the left will comport themselves all to make a case against people and policies they disagree with. The guy in the video has fallen into the gutter and is trying to drag all of those around him in with him.

Waters Wants to Take Over Banks, Oil

Looks like our favorite kook from California is at it again. I know, the list of kooks from California is quite long, but I really do think she heads up the list.

Maxine Waters, Rep from the once great state of California, is now threatening banks with higher taxation if they don’t bow down to her demands.

(h/t: Glenn Beck)

Isn’t this the same Maxine Waters who may have given preferential treatment during the bailout scrambles to a bank that her husband served as a board member? And isn’t she under some form of Congressional ethics investigation for possibly using her influence to get that bank a bailout?

I really don’t think this socialist is going to be happy until her state has been driven into the ground. After that, then she is going to try and put all businesses under the government control. This video while a bit old, really sums her feelings towards private businesses in this country.

Please note the reaction of the two people on the left side of the screen (her right) after she says “This liberal would be all about socializing, ahh…” It sure looks like to me they cannot believe she actually supports taking over an American business. Just what this nation needs. The government running businesses. You think the price of gas is high right now, wait until the government tries to run it. I think would look back with fondness $10/gallon gasoline.

Come to think about it, this sounds more like what the Nazi’s did in Germany back in the 1930s. I’m just sayin’

Emote Your Greenieness

Ok, so now that we have pointed out logically the issues with electric vehicles (EV) let’s move over to the emotional side of the argument. We’ll still use facts and logic, but we are going to throw in some touchy-feely stuff so the liberals and progressives can feel at home here on PACNW Righty.

I will never argue that doing the right by the environment is a bad thing, unless doing the right thing for the environment is wrong in every other aspect of our lives. Recycling is a GREAT thing. There is little to no impact on the individual and it just makes sense to recycle. We are a planet with finite resources; why not use things over and over again? Cleaner air and water are also good goals to pursue. The impact on an individual’s health is positive. And the economic impacts, while there, are not always felt directly.

This push for greener cars is going to have a direct impact on the individual. It is going to years (maybe decades) before the EV is affordable for most. $43K to $50K for what is essentially a subcompact hatchback is not affordable. At this price range we are talking about vehicles such as Cadillac’s and well equipped trucks and SUVs. In other words; family cars and entry-level luxury models. When young people are starting out, they are looking at cars priced in the $10K to $15K range. Not many of these cars could be considered good for a family much larger than a toddler or two. Want to fit two teenage boys in the back? Forget about it!

Another Reason Green Technology Isn't Ready

Over the past several months I have blogged a lot about the Chevy Volt, the “electric” (actually a Hybrid) vehicle (EV) made by Government Motors. (Mike at Confederate Yankee has also been taking this on) There is also another EV being pushed by the environmentalists as the solution to all of our fossil fuel woes (drive an EV, but don’t exact our own resources). I have focused on the Volt because this vehicle is made in the US, by a US company, and is also a favorite of the environmental crowd. There is one significant difference between the Volt and the Leaf: The Leaf is a pure EV with no gas engine “backup” as with the Volt. Today, I am going to focus a bit on the Nissan Leaf.

A newspaper over in England, The Telegraph, has a short article on the cost of battery replacement for Nissan Leaf. (h/t: Doug Ross at Director Blue and Soylent Green)

Nissan has admitted that owners of a Leaf, which costs £26,000 ($42,486) after the government grant, may need to replace the battery after a few years, depending on how it has been treated, The Times reported.

The battery’s capacity can decrease significantly if the owner repeatedly uses a fast-charge point.

In the latest episode of Top Gear (UK Version) Jeremy Clarkson was shown running out of power and having to be pushed into the center of Lincoln, which has no public charging points (You Tube Video here and here).

Andy Palmer, Nissan GB’s senior vice-president, told the paper that the lithium ion battery is made up of 48 modules. He said that each would cost £404 ($660) to replace, making £19,392 ($31,688) for the entire battery pack. He said that most owners would not need a new battery for at least 10 years because electric vehicles should mainly be used for short journeys. (Source: The Telegraph UK)

The Left Now Targeting Marcus Bachmann

Currently Michelle Bachmann is the hottest candidate out there. She has gained significantly in the polls on Mitt Romney (thank goodness), and in a couple of cases has actually surpassed the main stream media’s GOP designated Republican that is OK. But with the gains, also comes the attacks.

As most that follow Bachmann know, she is very much against the gay lifestyle. Her husband, Marcus, has even opened up a clinic is Minnesota that counsels gays who wish to change back to straight (Pray the gay away as the MSM call it). It seems there are rumors floating around the left side blogosphere that Mr. Bachmann might be a closest gay. The rumors are completely unsubstantiated and based totally on his mannerisms and speech.

The Civility from the Left Continues

For whatever reason it is just impossible for the left/liberals/progressives to behave in any sort of civilize manner. The other night on “Real Time with Bill Maher” two of his guests showed us why the left is such paragons of tolerance. Be forewarned, the following and the video at the links has language you probably don’t want your mother to hear.

First up is, umm, comedian Marc Maron:

“I don’t want to be crass, but I just hope that Marcus Bachmann (Republican Presidential hopeful Michelle Bachmann’s husband; PACNW Righty adds) takes all that, ya know, that rage that comes from repression and denial and brings it into the bedroom with her,” Maron said. “I hope he f^%& her angrily, because that’s how I would. And I’ve thought about it.” (Source: Daily Caller)

Next to spew his hatred for anything remotely conservative was gay-rights activist Dan Savage:

Libs Cry Racist Yet Again

Over the course of the last couple of years the left wing media has tried to paint those folks who could be labeled as birthers as racists. Jim Corsi, who writes for World Net Daily, has written a book titled Where’s the Birth Certificate? The Case That Barack Obama Is Not Eligible to Be President.  In this book he make several arguments that Obama is not eligible to be President due to (take your pick), a grand conspiracy, his father not being a US citizen, and/or his mother being too young to pass citizenship on to Barack Obama.

Personally, I think this whole birther issue is a load of horse-hockey.  The long form, after finally being released, has proven Obama’s citizenship. Or sure, there are a few items that the birthers have latched on to such as a watermark, or an out of sequence numbering. But it really all boils down to is conspiracy of this magnitude couldn’t possibility be pulled off, except in the movies.

Bush Makes a Bunch on the Lecture Circuit, and the Left is Mad

There is just something about George Bush that the leftist press just can’t seem to leave him alone. Now they are picking at him because he is making a fist full of money on the lecture circuit. In a piece at The Daily Beast the author mentions several times that Bush had wanted to stay out of the limelight, then they go on to chastise him for delivering speeches across the country and the world.

When George W. Bush declined President Obama’s invitation to ceremony at New York’s ground zero after Osama bin Laden was killed, the former president citied his desire to keep a low public profile.

But Bush has been raising his profile in a different, and lucrative, way: He has ranked in millions of dollars since leaving office by making scores of speeches the typically warn him six figures a pop. (Source: The Daily Beast)

Left Tries to Make Political Hay

An interesting little happened on the way to 2012.  After the killing of Osama bin Laden, President Obama’s approval rating did not improve by any measureable amount. If you are Obama, that really has to suck. Too dang bad.

Some on the left are already angling for their seats at Obama’s second inauguration. Seems that Barbara Walters is concerned for any Republicans going up against Obama and Behar just thinks we shouldn’t even bother to hold the election.

The sad thing about all of this is that it was so predictable.  It took less than a day for the left to start politicizing the death of bin Laden. I will give credit where it is due. He made the call for the Seal Team to make the move on the compound that was hosting the world’s most wanted terrorist. Former President Bush and his administration tried to close the deal on bin Laden for several years. But let us not forget a couple of things here. Most of the intelligence gathered to make this hit possible was gathered during the Bush tenure. It was the “extraordinary interrogation techniques”, approved by Bush, that gave US intelligence agencies that long sought after nugget of information that finally broke this wide open. It was Obama’s call to make and he made the correct one, but he was standing on the shoulders of many others, including Bush. As much as the left would like to portray this solely as Obama’s victory, it is not.

The Left's Plans Continue to be Exposed (Long Post)

The one thing that is not scary about what the left has planned for us is that we now have the ability to see it and do something about it before they can put their processes in motion or at the very least intercept them before conclusion.

Most recently Steve Learner was giving a speech at a symposium hosted at Pace College and he talked about what can be done to destabilize the banking system in particular and the free market economy in general. (Transcript here, thanks Legal Insurrection)

“…and for example, 10% of homeowners, going back to the where you started, who are under, a quarter of all people who own a home are under water. Right? Their home is under water, they are paying more for it than it’s worth.  Ten percent of those people are now in strategic default, meaning they’re refusing to pay but they’re staying in their homes.  That is totally spontaneous.  Right? They figure out it takes a year to kick me out of my home because the mort, the foreclosure’s backed up. I’m going to say I won’t pay. It’s just what business does, it’s a good business decision. If you could double that number, you would make banks, put the banks on the edge of insolvency again.”

“And so the question would be, what would happen if we organized homeowners in mass to do a mortgage strike. Just say if we get, and , and, if we get half a million people to agree, we’ll all not, we’ll agree we won’t pay our mortgages, it would literally cause a new financial crisis.”
