USWNT Flag Issue

I realize this is a bit of old-ish news, but I stewed on it for a little while. Recently, while playing Mexico, some members the USWNT looked to have turned their backs on the US flag. The official Twitter account for the US teams has denied this, saying the players were looking at a flag in a different part of the stadium. Never mind that the women who were not facing the flag that is at the end of the stadium are the same players who have done this time after time. Since I don't have a Twitter account, I can't post those kinds of things here. This is the tweet: From U.S. Soccer Comms, "To be clear, no one turned their back on WWII Veteran Pete DuPre during tonight's anthem.  Some USWNT players were simply looking at the flag pole in one end of the stadium. The players all love Pete, thanked him individually after the game and signed a ball for him." NOTE the tweet didn't say turn their backs on the flag. Based on what I've been able to gather, no one was accusing the players for turning their backs on Mr. DuPre, but not facing the US flag. If one watches the video, you can clearly see that most of the women who were not facing towards Mr. DuPre had their hands over their hearts while facing the flag at the end of the stadium. Those facing forward, not a single one had their hand covering their heart. And as I pointed out earlier, it's the same cast of characters. 

Kenosha

The officers were dispatched to the location due to a complaint that Mr. Blake was attempting to steal the caller's keys/vehicle.

Officers were aware of Mr. Blake's open warrant for felony sexual assault (3rd degree) before they arrived on scene. 

White Subjugation

Found this while perusing a Twitter thread. Found it interesting that, one, people would willingly do this and secondly, people who are protesting against racial injustice would require "white folks" to behave this way.

My Thoughts on George Floyd

George Floyd, while not on the straight and narrow, did not deserve to die. Especially in the manner in which his life was taken.

That being said, the whole "Let's burn down a bunch of inner cities" narrative and actions is just beyond stupid. The entire country saw what happened to Mr. Floyd and condemned it with no hesitation or quantifiers. We all knew Floyd was being arrested for committing a crime, but we didn't care about that. His murder was unjustifiable, plain and simple. When the riots and looting happened, all that support dried up. While his murder was completely unjustified, it should not be used as an excuse to loot, piliage, and kill like a bunch of Vikings invading Northumbria.

Protest i.e. Break the Law, Get Rewarded

Some of you might recall a post I did regarding a pepper spray incident that occurred at the University of California-Davis. Late last year several Occupy “Something” protesters were peppered-sprayed by UCD cops after the protesters, who were “camping” without a permit, and who refused to depart when told to do so. Initially the event was covered as a point of possible police overstepping their authority. Later, it was discovered the protesters had been asked and warned several times. Furthermore, one of the protesters clearly stated their goal was to get pepper-sprayed by the cops, knowing full well a compliant media would give the protested every benefit of the doubt.

Well, those very same “we are the 99 percent” protesters have won a million dollars from UCD. Read details and commentary here.

Has it really come to this? You break the law, you suffer the consequences, and then you get paid?

Occupiers Hit Seattle

Well gang, today was May 1st, the day that all communists and socialists celebrate for reason that are sort of unclear to me.

Because the Occupy “Something” movement is rife with communists and socialists supposedly fighting for the 99% they decided that a day celebrated in the old Soviet Union, Warsaw Pact nations, North Korea, and others who have a decidedly leftist bent in their philosophy that May 1st was a great day to kick off the 2012 Occupy movement.

As could be expected, the leftist colony that is Seattle and King County, suffered through their idiocy on this fine May day.

Windows at several Wells Fargo branch were forced to shut down due to shattered windows.

Nike Downtown also suffered a similar fate.

The protesters also set a small fire in front of the US Court of Appeals and also nailed it with paintballs. Interestingly, this court house is probably one of the more friendly venues for leftist/progressives as this court has a decidedly liberal lean.

One thing that really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me why would these people do these kinds of things in a city that is renowned for their liberal and progressive leanings? The Seattle area has over a million people, a goodly portion of those folks would gladly proclaim their support for any and all causes liberal. Yet here the Occupy folks are going downtown, destroying property that more than likely belongs to people who, if they don’t outright support them, then at least have sympathies for the Occupiers.

If the Tea Party had demonstrated in the same fashion, do you think the 2010 midterm elections would have gone the same route? Not a chance. We tend to shed people who are extremists; we minimize them as quickly as we can. Take the knuckleheads who make up the white power group. They support many of the causes we do. They want smaller government, they don’t want their gun rights taken, they want traditional families. But they are too far out there for anyone who is mainstream conservative to even given them the time of day. Because of the way we have distanced ourselves from these kinds of people, they have really ceased to be anything more than a bad curiosity. Yet many of the folks who had damage done to their property and so forth will say nothing to push these people further into the reaches of nothingness.

I would also like to point out that Seattle has two main newspapers: The Seattle Times and the Seattle PI. The PI is left leaning while the Times tends to be more middle of the road. Guess which newspaper sent out updates via e-mail notices to their subscribers.

Another Pepper-Spraying Incident

An unrelated but related update to the UC Davis pepper-spraying incident that got a lot of Americans (and a few on my readers) really worked up.  You will recall that I posted this: and my support for the police and their actions remain unchanged. The article linked here asks why aren’t Americans up in arms over Marines that get pepper-sprayed and then forced to navigate an obstacle course lined with drill sergeants trying to knock them off their feet.

"Buy American" Ads Turned Down

I think I’d file this under a “little kooky.” The Seattle area Metro bus company has refused to sell ad space on their buses to a company that is asking folks to buy American made products this Christmas season.

A local group’s plan to buy ads on Metro buses urging people to “Buy American” and “shop Locally” has been rejected by King County as too political

TAP America, a Seattle-based nonprofit, sought to place the ads starting this week on the outside of Metro buses, concentrating on bus routes that run through shopping districts of downtown Seattle and Bellevue.

The message was meant as a reminder to holiday shoppers that they could do something positive for the country by thinking about how they spend their money, said Richard Tso, TAP America’s executive director. (Source: Seattle Times)

Did the UC Davis Protesters Provoke?

You know what they say about hind-sight? It has 20/20 vision. Looking back at the video of the UC Davis issue where the students got pepper-sprayed by UC Davis police for not leaving the campus after being told to do so, it is easy to see why they might have reacted the way they did. At the risk of sounding like I don’t know what the heck I am talking about, I do remember watching the videos the first go-around and thinking about the students in the background. I didn’t concern myself about the students sitting on the ground that were receiving the spray. After all, they were told to move, they were told if they didn’t they were going to get sprayed, they choose not to move, hence they choose to get sprayed. It is as simple as choosing one path over another. Regardless of the choice, there are consequences that one must take responsibility for.

If you look at the video, the campus police are surrounded by protesting students. The students were also asked to leave and they refused. They were violating campus policy by setting up the camps, which the head of the campus initially ignored. When the police were told to remove them, the students would not leave. So they got pepper sprayed.

Now comes along this video where one of the protesters basically said they provoked the pepper spray. It was their intended purpose all along.

Communists Out In Full Force (Sort of)

Great post and images of a teacher’s “strike” down in California. Donald over American Power posted the images. On the positive side, there was little to none of the violence that the Occupiers have become known for. On the negative side (well, other than the freedom to express their opinion) these guys are really starting to show who and what they are.

With the election of an avowed socialist as president, these guys have become much more embolden, thinking the nation is ready for their crap. Hopefully, the nation will show them that we are a nation of individual liberty, not collective socialism. But I do fear that if Obama is elected for another four years, these guys will push even harder for their agenda and things will really get out of hand.

Please don’t let apathy rule the day in Nov 2012.

Occupy Movement Goes Violent in Oakland, CA

Folks, a very good post by Doug over at American Power Blog on the Occupy Oakland violence and anarchy.

Things have really gotten out of control there with building being vandalized and businesses forced to shut down.

As much as they would like you to believe you are part of this movement this is not a 99-percenter movement. It is a socialist-anarchist movement. Nothing short of shutting down the government and rebuilding it to their desires will satisfy these people.

Very similar to the 1960’s counter-culture protests. Back then, these people grew up in a very easy-going time of the late 50’s and early 60’s. Purchasing a home was no longer a pipedream as wages were adequate for most to take the leap. Unemployment was low, we were prosperous and becoming more so, and American was leading the way in the world. Of course, it wasn’t without its bad points (Civil Rights). Fast forward to the turn of the century. We had years of prosperity led by the boom in technology, which we were the leaders in innovation. Generally speaking, jobs were plentiful, and our economy, led by housing and technology, was booming. But there were also dark clouds (terrorism). The common thread here is the generations that grew up in these times separated by a whole generation is that they were spoiled. And being spoiled, they wanted more and didn’t think they had to work for it, unlike the generation that spawned them.

It seems to run in a cycle. A generation works their tails off, getting to the good life. They treat their families to the spoils, essentially spoiling them. That next generation then wants to continue being spoiled. As youths, they didn’t have to work for anything as it was all provided. Once they came of age, reality it them in the back side and they didn't like it one bit.

The generation that brought us the “flower children” lived through the "Great Depression" and lived through WWII. After beating back a world shattered by a depression and the Axis Powers, they set their sights on working hard to gain security for their families. While working hard for this security, they shielded their children from a harsh reality, which in turn gave us the spoiled generation of the 60’s

The generation that has brought us the “Occupiers” lived through the 1970s which had tough economic times, Vietnam, and Jimmy Carter. They came of age under the prosperity of Reagan and to a lesser extent, Clinton, and they wanted a better life for their families. The cycle repeated and now we have to deal with the spoiled children who now want the government to pay for their student loans and give them jobs without them making any effort.

But there is a silver lining in all this. Eventually, the flower kids grew up, had families of their own and got to work. Let us hope the cycle continues.

Is the OWS Party Racist?

Although the trend might be shifting, I still have to wonder (for the umpteenth time) why American Jews feel compelled to support Obama and the Democrats.

As you are most likely aware, the Occupy Wall Street protest have VERY strong ties to the progressive  movement, hence VERY strong ties to the democrats. Even President Obama has now aligned himself with the movement.

It has become increasingly clear there is a segment of the OWS gang that has shown very evident anti-Semitic feelings.

In Los Angeles, California, protester, Patricia McAllister, who identified herself as an employee of the Low Angeles Unified School District (we can only hope she is not an educator), had this to say:

“I think that the Zionist Jews, who are running these big banks and our Federal Reserve, which is not run by the federal government…they need to be run out of this country.” (Source: Israel Today)

Protesters Cry "Gimme Something"

The Occupy Wall Street protests have hit the Seattle area over the last several days. It really is kind of hard to really get a grip on exactly what it is they are protesting but the under current is quite evident.

They call themselves the 99 percent, which I assume they mean they think they represent the 99 percent of all Americans and the 1 percent are the “rich”. Sorry, but I certainly don’t feel like they represent me. I am not a socialist who is bent on tearing down the most wonderful form of government ever devised.

These people really thought they had it made when Barack Obama was elected President and Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House. They had a clear Marxist occupying the White House and a nutjob leading the House. Soon everyone was going to be holding hands and singing around the campfire. Just one problem. Obama and his crew don’t really represent the majority of Americans. They soon found this out when the Tea Party was formed and pushed hard during the health care debate.

Whatever it Takes

By any means necessary, that is mantra of the progressives. These people have absolutely no shame. In what should have been a completely non-political event was turned into one when protesters (protesting who knows what) dressed as zombies interrupted a Special Olympic event. When Wisconsin Governor Walker was giving a speech to the attendees, commending them on their efforts, the protesters first booed him then marched into a position that put them between the Special Olympians and Gov Walker. The video was posted on You Tube by the good folks at the MacIver Institute.

Socialist and Muslim Brotherhood Working Together

Concern should be increasing over actions in the Middle East and not just because totalitarian regimes are killing protesters. It has been pointed out before that the so-called “Arab Spring” might not be all wine and roses.  In what might fall under the category of strange bedfellows, the progressive far left and the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) might very well be in cahoots together in the protests that have swept the Middle East this year.

In this video over at Glenn Beck’s The Blaze, ties between the MB and socialist groups are starting to crystallize. The leftist press support of these movements really came as no surprise to many on the right. The progressive have never really met a protest they didn’t like.  Well, except for that lousy American Revolution 235+ years ago which brought about individual liberty and which the left has been trying to bring down ever since. But I do sometimes find it odd that the left would support these MB dudes. With the stoning of gays common place and women having to wear veils to hide their faces and the routine persecution of Christians what’s not there for a progressive to love. I wonder if progressive leaders have ever really sat down and thought what these MB people would do to them once the Caliphate gets established. I guess in the progressive mind it is all a means to an end. I just don’t really think they realize that it will be the end of them once the MB has control. Their high and mighty naivety is really going to come back and bite them in the backside.

LSU Students Say No to Flag Burning

Gotta love this!  Seems that students at Louisiana State University (LSU) decided they have had enough folks trashing the USofA.  A student at LSU tried to burn the American flag and was chased off the campus by a good sized crowd of LSU students.

It would be a wonderful trend if conservative students and students of sound mind from colleges all across the US decided they have had enough of their campuses being control by the progressive minority. Although the LSU students might have taken it a tad too far, the fact they decided enough is enough fills me with pride. (h/t: Drudge Report)
