Guilt or Innocence

Dear Readers: As you read through this little post please understand that this should not be misconstrued as showing support for any actions that Brett Farve may have allegedly committed. If the allegations leveled against him for fraud have any merit, then he needs to have his day in court, and if convicted, he should pay the price.

It is more or less a very brief essay on the complete intolerance and hypocrisy of the left.

Read the sourced article here.

A few days back Farve was on a podcast telling people they should avoid the mainstream media. “If you’re watching the news, depending on who you’re watching, 99.9% of the news is the left. So there’s a huge agenda,” Favre said on the podcast. “They control the narrative.” Why he felt he had to say this on Donald Trump, Jr’s podcast, which most likely has a conservative audience, is just a tad baffling to me. As conservatives, we already know this, Farve was preaching to the choir. But as in the case with nearly all conservative podcasts, there is always a small sliver of the audience that are progressives.

I know for a fact the opposite is true; we conservatives do occasionally follow hyper progressive media. There is a slight but nuanced difference though. We tend to follow this media for insight: What are those progressives lying about now? We do this so we can counter the lies with the truth.

When progressives follow the conservative media, it is not to be educated, or to catch us in a lie. They do it for those “gotcha” moments. Even if they have to make stuff up or bend the truth to the breaking point.

Going back to what Farve said about the media. His biographer, Jeff Pearlman, said that Farve was an idiot for stating his beliefs that the media was hyper partisan.

A couple thoughts ran through my mind as a read the article linked above.

First of all, the intolerance of the left. I don’t know the first thing about Mr. Pearlman’s political beliefs. But based how left leaning the vast majority of the media are, I’d wager a nickel he tends to vote for anything not conservative. I wonder if Pearlman had a knee-jerk reaction to someone who might think differently than him. Is there a possibility that he doesn’t have tolerance for those who think differently?

Secondly, the left tends to assume guilt before innocence, especially if the person in question has conservative leanings. In the tail end of the linked article, Pearlman made a point to tell folks not to purchase the biography he wrote about Farve. I will give credit where credit is due. This biography was undoubtedly a source of income for Pearlman. Maybe not so much now since it has been a few years since the book came out. However, his reasoning for suggesting to folks not to purchase the book is telling. He had already convicted Farve before Farve had had his day in court. In this country, a person is innocent until proven guilty. It seems that this basic foundation of our law does not apply to Farve. Is it because Farve is conservative? Or does Pearlman have a source that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Farve is guilty? Either way, Farve is entitled to his day in court to determine his guilt or innocence. This is not up to a reporter.
