Christian Churches Burned in Egypt

It is rapidly becoming apparent that the so-called freedom movement in Egypt is nothing even remotely freedom-like.  What is even sadder is the Lame Stream Media is taking great pains to make the most recent events seem like it was “two for tangoing”. Reality is that two Christian churches were burnt to the ground while nary a mosque was touched.

The Muslim Brotherhood, who has really taken control in Egypt, has a history of Christian persecution. In fact, radicalized Islam is out to eradicate Jews and Christians from the Middle East.

Busy Weekend

Gang, I apologize for the lack of updates recently.  Mother’s Day took priority yesterday; Sat was filled with a never ending honey-do list and was too tired at the end of the day to think.  I’ll do my best to get some updates out today and tomorrow. I will be posting the weekend links by close of business tonight (bed time).

You are not going to believe this!  The Cupertino Union School District has backed a ban on teaching the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and other Founding Father documents because they are deemed to religious by referring to God.

There is a possibility that his deeply held faith may have something to do with the ban. Some parents complained that while he was teaching these documents he may have been espousing his religion. My question is why didn’t the school district tell him to lay off the religious teachings and stick with the documents and the writings of the Founding Fathers. I would think that would be enough to get his point across.

I have a feeling that a liberal school district (this school is in the Bay Area) took this opportunity to further dilute the connections to our obvious Christian past.

Unemployment Ticks Up to 9 Percent

Recent employment numbers showed a mixed bag. While the job market added over 240,000 new jobs in April, the unemployment rate still rose to 9.0%, up two-tenth of a percent. Overall economic growth remains slow at 1.8%.

Some are speculating the increase in the jobless rate has to do with more folks entering back into the search for jobs.  After many months of bleak job growth in the private sector and unemployment remaining high there have been signs in recent months of improvement.  The last several months have shown positive job growth which is more than likely sending the long term unemployed back into the job market.

Jobless Claims Rise

Ever so slowly reality is taking chunks out of the recovery. The latest chunk, and it is a big one, is the number of jobless claims has risen to its highest level in over 8 months. Growth has also slowed to 1.8%, indicating that firms will yet again hold off on hiring in numbers big enough to have an enough of an impact to overcome rising gas a food prices. Tell Me Again How "Green" is Good

File this under the “just dandy” category. While Obama and the progressive try with all their might to cut us off from oil with “energy prices will necessarily skyrocket”, the last US-owned solar panel maker is struggling.

We are losing big time in the manufacturing department to other nations. We are becoming a nation of the service industry. We no longer make steel in any quantity that matters, China and Japan have us whipped. We have lost a major share of the automotive industry to Japan and Korea and to a lesser extent, Europe.  With the outlawing of the incandescent bulb, we don’t make light bulb anymore.  The fluorescent bulb is made overseas. Now it seems that the Chinese are the only ones who are going to cash in on our forced switch to “green energy”.

How long will it be before we lose our edge in the IT arena? I’m guessing it won’t be long.

And why is it that we are losing our manufacturing? Environmental regulations and high cost of labor.  I certainly know that if I were a business owner and had a choice between going out of business and moving my operations overseas, I don’t think I’d have to think very long.  I’d have to learn a new language.

Kucinich to Represent Washington State?

This is just weird. The tin-foiled hated one, Dennis Kucinich, is considering offers from several states to run for Congress.  Seems that redistricting in his current state could cost him his seat in Congress. My adopted home state of Washington is getting a congressional district and Washington State dems have contact him about moving here and running for Congress in the newly created district. And carpetbagger to his list of names.

DREAM Act to Invade Our Nightmares Again

I think this little thing might have slid under the radar with all of the hubbub surround the death of bin Laden and the weather disasters that swept through the south. It seems that President Obama is going to ask/tell Sen (Prince) Harry Reid (D-NV) to revisit the DREAM Act. For those of you who might not be aware, this act was going to give citizenship to children that were brought here illegally, as long as they followed certain steps such as going to college or joining the military.

During a speech given during a commencement ceremony at Miami Dade (Community) College, the President alluded to bringing back the DREAM Act. During the lame duck session of Congress last December a cloture vote failed so the piece of legislation didn’t reach the floor for a final vote. It appeared this was going to be dead. HA! Shame on us for thinking that. During his speech last week Obama said this:

“I strongly believe we should fix our broken immigration system.  Fix it so that it meets our 21st-century economic and security needs.  And I want to work with Democrats and republicans, yes, to protect our borders, and enforce our laws, and address the status of millions of undocumented workers.  And I will keep fighting alongside many of you to make the DREAM Act the law of the land.”

Four Bucks

While everyone was celebrating the death of Osama bin Laden, gas slipped above $4.00 in my local area. Only two stations in my local area are still under that "magical" four buck barrier, the local Rez station (one tax or another is not charged on the Rez) and the ARCO, which is under four, cash only.
