Presidential "Firsts"

Over at Director-Blue, Doug has been running a post that he updates periodically that highlights all of the “firsts” that have occurred in the ongoing four-year disaster that we call Barack Obama’s first (hopefully only) term as President.

I love this post because it gives you great ammunition to take on those Obama-living liberals. Doug gives you facts, which is something that can completely befuddle a liberal and cause their head to explode. Oh, I’m sorry, was that a violent image? Of course, I am speaking figuratively, not literally. Because if actually exploding heads were really the outcome of fact-based arguments, it would pretty gory out there.

For some reason, the actual page is not loading properly on his site. It could be an issue on my end. So, in the interest of getting this to you I am going put a decent portion here. Hopefully Doug won’t be too upset with me. And here is the link to the entire page just in case it is an issue on my end or Doug is able to fix it.

Because the number of historic “first” keeps expanding by leaps and bounds, Doug has decided to break them down by category. As far as I can tell, this categorization is also a first. Without further ado:

LAW AND JUSTICE:

Barack Obama is the first President…

…to violate the War Powers Act (Unilaterally Executing American Military Operations in Libya Without Informing Congress In the Required Time Period – Source: Huffington Post) PACNW Comment: Interesting that while a Senator, Barack Obama railed against then-President Bush for GHWB execution of the Iraq War.

…to Triple the Number of Warrantless Wiretaps of U.S. Citizens (Source: ACLU) PACNW Righty Comments: While I am certainly not a fan of the ACLU, I find this particularly interesting. Does anyone remember how the Lame Stream Media and democrat Congress-critters went absolutely ape-kaka over GHWB’s application of these warrantless wiretaps? This was front page news with liberal and conservative pundits declaring the Republic had ended with Bush’s supposed end-round on the Constitution. They had a point, I will have to say. Doing this just didn’t sit well with me. But I salved my concerns over this issue with the feeling that at heart George Bush was a decent man and would use these wiretaps for personal/political gain. I don’t have the same warm-fuzzy when it comes to Obama and his band of thugs. But here is where I have my problem with the ACLU. When the Bush Administration was applying these wiretaps, the ACLU would release the news and numbers to great consternation and gnashing of teeth. Let Obama triple the number and you don’t hear a peep from ACLU news relations people or the Lame Stream Media.

…to claim Executive Privilege to shield a sitting Attorney General from a Contempt of Congress finding for perjury and withholding evidence from lawful subpoenas (Source: Business Insider) PACNW Righty Comments: What more can be said about an administration that if viewed impartially would quite likely be compared with the US Grant Administration when discussing corruption. Not that an unbiased look will be given especially when one considers there are some who view Obama in the same plane of greatness as Reagan and Teddy Roosevelt.

SCANDALS

The First President…

…to Attempt to Block Legally-Required 60-day Layoff Notices by Government Contractors Due to His Own Cuts to Defense Spending – Because The Notices Would Occur Before the Election. (Source: National Journal)
PACNW Righty Comments: Raise your hand if you think the Lame Stream Media will this any sort of coverage. OK, those of you who don’t think this is a big deal, you need to get into your Volt and head out of town. Just another example of the lawless that is endemic within this administration. Oh, and Obama has offered to either waive the steep fees associated with not following the layoff notice rules or to cover these penalties in some way.

ECONOMY

The First President…

…to Preside Over a Cut to the Credit Rating of the United States Government (Source: Reuters)
PACNW Righty Comment: If this guy is elected for a second term, and he doesn’t reduce his penchant for spending money the US doesn’t have, don’t be surprised another downgrade doesn’t occur. There is no way we can continue to pile up debt at a rate of a trillion dollars a year and not have some serious negative consequences. And this further downgrade will only spiral our debt to heights unheard of.

…to Increase Food Stamp Spending By More Than 100% in Less Than Four Years (Source: Sen. Jeff Sessions)
PACNW Righty Comments: If you really think about this, I think you’ll come to the same conclusion that I have. He is doing this on purpose. It has been firmly established by other countries that have well-entrenched nanny states (Europe, Greece and Spain in particular) that when government-provided assistance crosses over the Rubicon (so to speak), going back is nearly impossible without major upheaval. Obama is purposely pushing more onto the government teat so that he can reshape America during the crisis that is sure to follow. Also, once people get something for nothing, it is nearly impossible for them to give it up voluntarily. And we have reached a critical moment in our history. We have crosses over that 50% government provided threshold. At some point it will reach a critical mass. There will come a point where the number of haves will be outweighed by the number of “gimme more”.

ENERGY POLICY

The First President…

…to Endanger the Stability of the Electric Grid by Shutting Down Hundreds of Coal-Fired Plants without Adequate Replacement Technologies (Source: National Electric Reliability Corporation)
PACNW Righty Comments: Obama is a guy who really does believe that wind turbines and solar fields can replace coal, natural gas, and oil. Never mind that a wind farm that would be large enough to replace even a modest coal-fired plant would likely cover tens of thousands of acres. On one of the routes that I routinely drive there are several wind farms that dot the ridges from horizon to horizon (127 units on nearly 9,000 acres). The power generated by these wind farms is about 20% when compared to the output of nearby Wanapum Dam (one of the smaller hydro-dams on the Columbia River). And the dam isn’t dependent on fickle wind patterns.

I have only covered a handful of the “Presidential Firsts”. You really should click on over to Doug’s site to read the rest.

I pray for our beloved country and what has happened to it while the population has been lulled to sleep with entertainment...
