An interesting little happened on the way to 2012. After the killing of Osama bin Laden, President Obama’s approval rating did not improve by any measureable amount. If you are Obama, that really has to suck. Too dang bad.
Some on the left are already angling for their seats at Obama’s second inauguration. Seems that Barbara Walters is concerned for any Republicans going up against Obama and Behar just thinks we shouldn’t even bother to hold the election.
The sad thing about all of this is that it was so predictable. It took less than a day for the left to start politicizing the death of bin Laden. I will give credit where it is due. He made the call for the Seal Team to make the move on the compound that was hosting the world’s most wanted terrorist. Former President Bush and his administration tried to close the deal on bin Laden for several years. But let us not forget a couple of things here. Most of the intelligence gathered to make this hit possible was gathered during the Bush tenure. It was the “extraordinary interrogation techniques”, approved by Bush, that gave US intelligence agencies that long sought after nugget of information that finally broke this wide open. It was Obama’s call to make and he made the correct one, but he was standing on the shoulders of many others, including Bush. As much as the left would like to portray this solely as Obama’s victory, it is not.
