Obama Email

I received this in an email the other day.  I have added some links so you can burnish your knowledge. According to Fact Check.org several of these statements are either false of twisted. You’ll have to do your own research to determine their veracity.

If any other of our presidents had doubled the National Debt, which taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one, would you have approved? (Link) The amount of debt is all in how you read it. If one were to compare year to year, then the statement is partially true. What really is not in dispute is the level of spending is something we have never seen.

If any other of our presidents had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved? (Link). While not 100% true, it is only a matter of a few billion dollars.

If any other of our presidents had criticized a state law that he admitted he never even read, would that he is just an ignorant hot head? (Link) Could not really find anything that said Obama hadn’t read it, but two advisors, Napolitano and Holder had not read but were supposedly “briefed.”

If any other of our presidents joined the country of Mexico and sued a state in the United States to force that state to continue to allow illegal immigration, would you question his patriotism and wonder whose side he was on? (Link) Technically, the Obama suit and Mexico’s are separate. Mexico joined with ALCU.

If any other of our presidents had pronounced the Marine Corps as if it were the Marine Corpse, would you think him an idiot? (Actually, he pronounced Navy Corpsman as Navy Corpseman, Link)

If any other of our presidents had put 87,000 workers out of work by arbitrarily placing a moratorium on offshore oil drilling on companies that have one of the best safety records of any industry because one foreign company had an accident, would you have agreed? (Link) The 87,000 workers was a worst case scenario. The numbers may actually be lower, but any job loss in today’s economy is something to be avoided if at all possible.

If any other of our presidents had used a forged document as the basis of the moratorium that would render 87,000 American workers unemployed, would you support him? (Link) You’ll see at the link the document was not forged, but misrepresented, but it looks like the misrepresentation was done with purpose. If I am not mistaken, it was Browner who jiggered the information, and she is no longer in the White House.

If any other of our presidents had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept his is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes? (PACNW Righty adds: Never mind the birther stuff, the “men behind the man” is a conspiracy I could get behind) (Link, although I think this one has been dispelled somewhat. He, uhh, used the teleprompter to, umm, read a prepared, ahh, statement)

If any other of our presidents had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take his first Lady to a play in NYC, would you have approved? (Link) Probably not hundreds of thousands, but quite likely MUCH more expensive than when you take out the wife to celebrate.

If any other of our presidents had reduced your retirement plan holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved? (Link) Fact Check claims this as false, but most of what I have been able to read seems that this is at least partially true. The pensioners did lose significant money during the turnover at GM.

If any other of our presidents had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved? (Link) What more can be said. He said it, then apologized. Guess the teleprompter wasn't working properly

If any other of our presidents had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved? (Link) The gifts were not a smart thing to do. I hope Obama fired the dude who gave him this advice.

If any other of our presidents had given the Queen of England an IPod containing videos of his speeches, would you thought it to be a proud moment for America? (Link) There was actually more than just Obama speeches on the IPod, but I still think it shows a complete lack of class on Obama’s part. But what do you expect from a president that doesn’t show much liking for the Brits. Hopefully, once Obama is gone, we'll be able to repair the damage.

If any other of our presidents had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved? (Link) Some of his staff claim that Obama bowed because he his taller than the King. But if you look at the video, he certainly wasn’t eye-to-eye with the King.

If any other of our presidents had visited Austria and made reference to the nonexistent “Austrian language” would you brushed it off as a minor slip? (Link)

If any other of our presidents had filled his Cabinet and circle of advisors with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes would you have approved? (Link)

If any other of our presidents had stated that there were 57 states in the United States, wouldn’t you have had second thoughts about his capabilities? (Link) Was he tired or just confused?

If any other of our presidents would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics would benefits him walking out his front door in his home town, would you not have thought he was a self-important, conceited, egotistical jerk? (Link) I could find no evidence that Obama said anything about his “front door”, but questions are still raised when he was the first president to personally stump for the Olympics.

If any other of our presidents had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was “The 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and then continue to flub it when he tried again, wouldn’t you have winced in embarrassment? (Link) (PACNW Righty adds: I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt here; George Bush wasn’t exactly the best with languages either)

If any other of our presidents had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite? (Link)

In any other of our presidents’ administrations had OK’d Air Force One flying over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11? (Link)

If any other of our presidents had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest, with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence? (Link) While it would have been nice to be able to slam Obama for a gaffe like this, it turns out none of it is true. The death toll from Hurricane Katrina is well over 1,000. From the Midwest floods the death toll was around 150. Plus, I am very happy the death toll from the flooding is not high, although any death is tragic it should go without saying.

If any other of our presidents had created the positions of 32 czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America, would you have approved? (Link) Some of these czar already existed prior to Obama taking office, but the unconstitutional power they wield is unprecedented.

If any other of our presidents had order the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved? (Link) The GM CEO was not “fired” in the strictest sense, but Obama did suggest he depart in a quick manner.
