The Iranians are at again. Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Tehran to protest the oppressive government of Dictator President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. One protester was killed. The uprising are supposedly in support of the recent protests in Egypt, which successfully pushed out Mubarak. Iranian security police were out in force, clamping down on the protesters and blockading the home of a leader of an opposition group.
So far, it appears the protests have not crossed over to be against the Iranian government. But one wonders how much crack down by government forces will push the protesters into the same mode they were in the last time there were massive protests in 2009. If Iranians who wish for a different form of government continue to protest, will President Obama ignore them like the last time? And will the MSM latch on to these protests as they did with the Egyptian protests? Will the media see these protests as a desire for freedoms? Only time will tell.
