Obama and His Faith

Over at Politico.com there is an article that discusses there are some that still question President Obama’s Christian faith. Obama says:

“Faith and daily prayer have been ‘a sustaining force for me over these last few years, all the more so when Michelle and hear our faith questioned from time to time,’ Obama told the audience, which included national religious leaders and politicians.  We are reminded that, ultimately, what matter is not what other people say about us but whether we are being true to conscience and true to our God.’”

For me it is not a matter of whether he believes in God, but whether he practices the Christian faith as I feel he should. I do not believe he is a Muslim because he has said many times over that he is not. But I do question his adherence to a strong Christian faith due his actions and deeds.

It is hard to be convinced that he is a strong Christian when he spent twenty years in a church lead by the Rev Wright, whose teaching of Christian values are suspect. President Obama also has difficulties explaining and supporting his faith due to positions he takes on a couple of issues, Gays and Abortion.

Most people who are strong in their faith are not aligned with Obama’s position on these matters. It is clearly outlined in the bible several times (Genesis 19; Leviticus 18:22 “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination”; Leviticus 20:13 “ If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed and abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them”; Romans 1:26-27, this is a very long couple of verses; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 “…Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind…”.  There are others references. I will concede the bible does not say we need to treat them poorly, but supporting their lifestyle is clearly a no-no

As for abortions, Obama again is not aligned with those of strong Christian faith. Probably the one reference that has the most punch is the 2nd Commandment (Exodus 20:13); “Thou shalt not kill”. In Job 10:8-12 describes how Job was a someone within the womb of his mother. In reference to the sinful nature of man since the fall from grace in Genesis, chapter 3, Psalm 51:5 states; “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me”

So you can see why many would question the strength of his faith when he is a supporter of activities that do not aligned themselves with people of strong Christian faith.
