Just a few notes today
The Alaskan Way Viaduct, a main north-south route along Seattle’s waterfront, is scheduled for replacement, and a tunnel was selected by the Seattle City Council (Mayor Mike McGinn has vowed to veto the project). There are some concerns about how the tunnel design would handle various disasters. The article linked here discussed how the designers will overcome these issues.
Lufthansa and Korea Air are first in line for Boeings latest version of the venerable 747 (Boeing’s flagship since 1969) which was unveiled to much fan-fair today. The latest version stretches out the upper deck to the wings, increasing upstairs capacity and has the latest gee-whiz-bang engines.
