Public Sector Union Chief Opens Mouth, Inserts Foot

For all of you non-government workers out there who still have a job the video at this link might interest you. For those non-government workers who have been laid off in these tough times and have struggled to find work, the video is probably going to tick you off.

At what point in time will these people realize cuts have to be made and there will be some things cut that had been off limits in the past?  Right now, we are involved in one war and one peacekeeping/training mission that costs gobs of money, yet the DoD is going to see the axe fall on their budget. Although Obama has asked for additional funding for high-speed rail, the transportation budget is going to see cuts. Environmental issues are going to see fewer dollars. Public sector employees earn anywhere from 10-15% more than their private employee counterparts, yet the head of the civil-service union is crying like a baby. Public sector employees (at the fed level) are nearly immune to layoffs, while the unemployment rate remains above 9%. In fact, under the Obama administration, public sector jobs have increased. Since the start of the recession 7.9 million jobs were lost in the private sector, while the public sector gained almost 600,000 jobs (source: National Review Online) The only part of the nation that hasn’t been hit hard by unemployment is the DC area, while the rest of us hope to hang onto our jobs or are struggling to find work.
